Henderson was a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award last season, when he rushed for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns on just 183 carries and also caught 27 passes for 312 yards and four touchdowns as a true freshman.
Also nominated for the Maxwell Award, Henderson is one of four returning semifinalists on the Doak Walker Award watch list along with Texas’ Bjian Robinson, Syracuse’s Sean Tucker and Kansas State’s Deuce Vaughn. Minnesota’s Mohamed Ibrahim, a 2020 Doak Walker Award semifinalist, is also on the watch list after tearing his ACL in the Gophers’ 2021 season opener against Ohio State.
