I am unsure what it would take or if it is feasible. Let's say the big ten decides to add 4 more teams (ND, Oregon, NC, and Stanford are my votes) but wants to "trim the fat" if you will. What two schools would you send packing?
Rutgers and Maryland are obvious choices from a competition standpoint. However, they bring in some big tv markets
IU and Purdue: IU have given us a few nailbiters recently, but they don't add much in competition or tv markets (Indy is 25th). Purdue is the best giant killer of college football but that's about it.
I like dropping Illinois and Iowa. We would keep Chicago's tv market because of NW. Iowa does put out a good team every three to four years, but nothing in the tv market to speak of.
