It's criminal that Randy isn't in... did he do something that pissed off the powers that be or what? I have been told by guys that played with him and people that know him that he's a great guy so I doubt he did anything wrong. There is no logical reason he shouldn't have been in canton after the 5 year waiting period was over. I am going to reach out to Jim Porter the president hall of fame and ask why he's not in and go over the huge gap between his play and other HOF'ers . If I find his contact info or get a response I will leave in the comments below...
It took ray lewis 17 years to get as many tackles as Randy did in 10. Let's not forget that in 74-77 they only played 14 games so that's 8 games less that Randy didn't get to accumulate stats additionally the 82 season was strike shortened to 9 games.
So Randy played in 145 games, 2049 tackles for an average of 14.13 tackles per game.
ray lewis played in 228 games and had 2059 tackles for an average of 9.03 per game
Randy Gradishar, if he played 228 games would have 3,222 tackles. Sure you need to figure out if he would have stayed healthy and so on, but career averages don't lie. So let's just say he had the same number of games as everyone did since they started keeping the tackles and sacks stats. that would have been 160 games x 14.13 avg= 2261 tackles blowing everyone in the history of the NFL out of the water.
P.S. I'm a Browns fan and hate the broncos but will yell from the treetops for Randy to get into the hall.
