With spring ball in full swing, Dan and I spent a segment of last Wednesday's 11W Radio Hour talking about the secondary and just how many dudes are in the mix to carve out a role in the two-deep.
And knowing OSU likes to rotate personnel at most of the defensive spots - if it has the depth - we could see a lot of different guys playing meaningful snaps/roles on any given Saturday.
Of course Denzel Burke is going to start at one corner spot and after how he performed as a true freshman, I think everyone expects him to be even better this fall, making his a stretch to list as a "breakout" performer.
We're guessing Oklahoma State transfer Tanner McCallister will be a starter somewhere in the secondary (nickel?) and Cam Brown is also back after starting opposite Burke a season ago.
After that though, there's a long list of guys that could make a name for themselves this fall. At first blush, Kourt Williams is my guy to be a starter that rarely comes off the field and Jakailin Johnson is my guy who didn't really play last year that will carve out a legit rotational role.
To refresh your mind, here's a list of players in the secondary, in no particular order.
Tanner McCallister, Denzel Burke, Cam Brown, Kourt Williams, Jakailin Johnson, Jordan Hancock, Josh Proctor, Lejond Cavazos, Jyaire Brown, Ronnie Hickman, Bryson Shaw, Sonny Styles, Lathan Ransom, Ryan Turner, Cameron Martinez, Andre Turrentine, Jantzen Dunn and Kye Stokes.
Who you got?
