Carlos Hyde’s stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars is over after one season.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Jaguars decided to release Hyde on Friday.
In his lone season with the Jaguars, in which he played for his former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, Hyde rushed for 253 yards and one touchdown on 72 carries and caught 12 passes for 65 yards. He signed a two-year, $4.5 million contract with the Jaguars last offseason, but the team opted to release him rather than pay him more than $2 million to stay with the team in 2022.
A second-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft, Hyde has played with six different NFL teams since entering the league, rushing for 4,979 yards and 37 touchdowns and adding 157 catches for 867 yards and three touchdowns over the course of his seven-year career in the league.
