I was interested in their use of a Leadership Council - similar to a captaincy. He said there are 15 players - all older and mature who have authority to make decisions on behalf of the team. This is a little different than the way our Buckeyes have organized themselves.
From my view, our team lacked a presence of strong leadership. There were a few who stepped up, and we had some older guys with earned respect, but we didn’t have a strong core of captains whose results backed up their billings. Overall, some of these captains didn’t perform up to their preseason expectations. Was this merely a function of having such a young team? Was it a lack of leaders? Is my assessment totally off base?
Forum topic in a nutshell: Could the Buckeyes benefit from a “Leadership Council” or “Senior Council” in addition to or instead of Captaincy?
