Playoff Expansion COULD Be Our Shot to Save CFB

I know many feel that playoff expansion would lead to crappy games...like our beatdown of Top 10 Sparty.  However, the mighty SEC is currently 0-4 in bowls and the AAC is 3-0 and has a team in the CFP.  I think there would be upsets. I think late-blooming teams (like Utah) would make some runs, potentially win it all.

Sure, there would be some blowouts, but we have that all the time in CFB. Plus, I enjoyed destroying Sparty. It was entertaining.

Blowouts happen even among the BEST teams anyway in the CFP. Ohio State has been on both sides of this equation. It's simply just part of football. It happens.

What's not entertaining? Historic bowl games becoming winter scrimmages. Players sitting out. Coaches abandoning their teams before a bowl game is played. Free-agent transfers in November/December.

Think of how much more those NY6 bowls would mean again & the kind of games we would see IF these teams were still playing for something:

5. Notre Dame (11-1)

6. Ohio State (10-2)

7. Baylor (11-2)

8. Ole Miss (10-2)

9. Oklahoma State (11-2)

10. Michigan State (10-2)

11. Utah (10-3)

12. Pittsburgh (11-2)

Every division in football has a playoff now. Only in D1 is it only 4 teams. And I'm not convinced its ever been the 4 BEST teams anyway.

+Make conference championships matter

+Play the first round either on campus of the higher seed

+Play the later rounds using Historic Bowl sites

+Potential for some epic rematches (e.g.: Bama/Georgia, Cincy/ND, OSU/TTUN)

+Players & Coaches of the best 12 teams participating with their teams through January

+More fanbases engaged for longer period of time/spread the "hope" around for current season and following season
