After watching most of the PSU/Illinois game, it was evident that Clifford is really banged up. There were at least two occasions where he struggled to get off the field.

Based on his dual threat ability, it was curious that PSU did not let him run the ball, especially in OT when they couldn't gain any yardage. He was credited with 5 carries for -28 yards for the game; all sacks.

I think he was hurt going into the game and gutted it out for the team. And he didn't do himself any favors for the future with the pounding he took.

I could see Franklin protecting the kid and not let him play on Saturday. He has to figure the odds are good his team will get pounded either way. Also, it gives Franklin an excuse if he is big-game job hunting. He can say the season fell apart because his QB got hurt.
