I keep thinking about why every OSU loss feels magnified 100 times. Every time we lose I'm in a shitty mood...the world is ending...etc.
A couple of things that may make me sound spoiled and just cranky:
1. Why has it become en vogue to disrespect the Block O by our opponents? We all know about Baker's flag planting incident and today after the game a player for Oregon took a rubber ducky and laid it smack dab at the 50 inside the O. Why? When was the last time OSU did something like that? (never) I don't recall anyone doing that on any other team's logo, so why is it popular among our opponents? I hate losing, but losing to classless shits is nauseating. And before you say "well don't let them win then." Its not that easy LOL
2. Maybe the reason I get so annoyed is that despite all of our success, we have underachieved the past 30 years. Cooper's teams were loaded with NFL talent and never got past TTUN when it counted, Tressel was our savior and I'm grateful for 2002, but we got boat raced in back to back title games, then Urban gets here and wins another title, but fails when we have a loaded roster, Day comes in and we get robbed in 2019 and again get boat raced in the title game in 2020. I'm not saying I'm not grateful for all of the success we've had, but it feels like instead of having 2 titles in 30 years we should have 5 or 6. For all of our success, Auburn and LSU have just as many titles in the same timeframe as us. Yes, it could be worse, but damn, it could be SO MUCH BETTER.
3. Am I paranoid or does the world celebrate when we lose? Seems like everyone hates us.
4. Why do we seemingly always lose our early season "big" out of conference games at home? Oregon, OU, USC, Texas, Va Tech...that's 5 in the past 16 seasons. Damn, I can't recall beating anyone out of conference that was good when they came to Columbus...maybe Miami when Pryor was our QB? IDK, seems we don't perform well at home early in the season vs. ranked out of conference teams...and it pisses me off.
5. Of all the ranked teams, why is it that we look the worst defensively? The same could be said for last year, but we miraculously made the title game anyway...and got thumped.
I know we have it better than 99% of programs, but damn, it feels like we are falling short consistently.
