With Ohio State's 2021 season set to kick off this week, and knowing you're all a bunch of rabid dogs when it comes to Buckeye football, I'm curious to know the root cause of your fandom.

So, what is very first memory of Ohio State football and who or what is most responsible for you being the obsessed fan you are today?

The earliest memory I have comes from the 1981 Michigan game. I was just a few weeks shy of my 8th birthday and watching the game in the living room with my dad, uncle and what I recall as a sizable number of their buddies.

The only play from that game that I remember came as Art Schlichter scored on a crafty 10-yard run and wiped out into a snow bank off the right side of the end zone. The score came with 2:50 left in the fourth quarter, ultimately giving Ohio State a 14-9 win in Ann Arbor.

For whatever reason, the tail end of that play is burned in my brain as is the pure burst of joy felt in that living room in some random duplex on the west side of Columbus. Needless to say, my dad was the chief reason I'm a Buckeye fan today - he had me rocking an Archie jersey when I was a toddler - and while we bonded over many things, Ohio State football stands at the top of that list.

You've seen the Schlichter's run before (and Vaughan Broadnax's sick block) but here it is again because why not.
