Our Buckeyes are back in the CFP despite having to navigate many obstacles along the way. Back in August, the B10 decided to cancel football season and said it would not be revisited. Then in September, the conference hierarchy reversed the August decision and set up an 8 game conference only schedule beginning by the very late date of October 24. No bye weeks, with no room for any postponements. In addition to the start of football, a 21 day sit out rule was included for any player who tested positive. With Covid cases rising daily within the conference, the Buckeyes managed to play their first 3 games, then the virus caused 3 cancelled games. The CFP still had OSU in its top 4 in its initial rankings. The Buckeyes ended up playing 5 games, and much to the disdain of many of the national media, remained in the top 4 of the CFP. The B10 then had to change the rule of a 6 game mandate to 5 games to play in the B10 championship game. The Buckeyes beat Northwestern being down 22 players 22-10 with a strong second half, giving them the 4th straight B10 title. Despite being undefeated B10 champions, with 2 wins over top 14 teams, the national pundits continued their campaign of trying to justify Ohio State not being in the top 4 of the CFP. Their rationale was that OSU had only played 6 games, not worthy of a top 4 rankings.

But our Buckeyes are back in the CFP, despite all the problems they had to overcome. We've seen a lot of great teams at Ohio State, but this 2020 team to me is special because there were so many things that could have kept us from winning a 4th straight B10 title and a berth in the CFP.
