Something happened over the past 15 years that has long eluded this proud, storied football program. Somewhere along the way we turned into a legitimate Quarterback school. I was texting about this with some friends and we were debating how we'd rank the OSU QBs of the 2000s. So I started to compile some stats & metrics to see how they stacked up. In doing this, I found I was surprised by some of their numbers and thought it would be fun to present them without name to see if you could match the QB to his stats (without looking it up). I only included stats for games STARTED - it would have been too difficult & tedious otherwise. The OSU QBs of the 2000s (all apologies, Steve Bellisari, Justin Zwick & Joe Bauserman) are:
Craig Krenzel
Troy Smith
Todd Boeckman
Terrelle Pryor
Braxton Miller
J.T. Barrett
Cardale Jones
Dwayne Haskins
Justin Fields
The stats I included are TOTAL YPG (passing + rushing), Comp %, TD per game and INT per game. I also included their records against Top 25 teams just in case you needed some help. Individual QB Stats are as follows:
QB A
252 YPG, 59% Comp, 2.5 TDs/game, 0.5 INTs/game
7-5 vs. Top 25
QB B
230 YPG, 61% Comp, 2.0 TDs/game, 0.7 INTs/game
9-4 vs. Top 25
QB C
191 YPG, 57% Comp, 1.3 TDs/game, 0.4 INTs/game
12-3 vs. Top 25
QB D
216 YPG, 63% Comp, 2.1 TDs/game, 0.4 INTs/game
10-2 vs. Top 25
QB E
268 YPG, 67% Comp, 3.6 TDs/game, 0.2 INTs/game
5-1 vs. Top 25
QB F
399 YPG, 70% Comp, 4.1 TDs/game, 0.6 INTs/game
6-0 vs. Top 25
QB G
259 YPG, 63% Comp, 3.0 TDs/game, 0.6 INTs/game
11-3 vs. Top 25
QB H
275 YPG, 61% Comp, 1.8 TDs/game, 0.7 INTs/game
3-0 vs. Top 25
QB I
192 YPG, 63% Comp, 1.9 TDs/game, 1.0 INTs/game
4-2 vs. Top 25
Can you match the OSU QB to his stats? I'll post the correct pairings tomorrow.
