The Buckeyes open 2022 at home on September 3 against Notre Dame, then a bye on the 10th, and then home against Toledo on the 17th before launching into the B1G schedule with road games at MSU on the 24th and at Penn State on October 1.

In 2023, the only OOC game Ohio State has on the books is on the road at Notre Dame. With only four B1G home games, the other two OOCs will a) likely be home games to get up to six, and b) Group of 5 opponents.

A few other tidbits:

  • The only other open date on the 2022 slate is October 22. It comes during a 3-game B1G home stretch.
  • In 2022, Ohio State will play five B1G games, which means that together with Notre Dame and Toledo, the Buckeyes are scheduled to play at least seven home games, which would make an eighth home game both very rare and very lucrative.
  • In 2023, we open at Indiana on 9/2 and play at ND on 9/23. 2023's open dates for the other two OOC games are September 9, 16, and 30. The Buckeyes have no byes once they start B1G play at home against Maryland on October 7.

While it's more likely Gene Smith will play home games against three Group of 5 teams to fill the open OOC slots in both seasons, who would you like to see the Buckeyes play?

Edit: Corrected all the OCCs to OOC since I’m an idiot.
