Vinnie Petrella, a former walk-on cornerback for Ohio State from 2010-12, is currently battling for his life in an intensive care unit due to acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, an autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in the brain and spinal cord.
Petrella has been in the ICU with a minimal level of consciousness since May 31. A GoFundMe created on behalf of Petrella and his family has raised more than $22,000 for his medical care, and further updates on his condition are also being posted there.
