Was thinking today about how the Haskins vs. Burrow discussion was the hot topic of our off-season (until August). Seems like an eternity ago, doesn't it?

Clearly Urban made the right choice, but it wasn't a certainty that Haskins was going to be the guy, especially early on. Considering Burrow had seniority, the job started off as his to lose.

As you all know, Haskins was just named Big Ten QB of the year and Offensive POY and I just had a few thoughts - and maybe some discussion points.

• First, I think we all need to give credit where credit is due. Urban is well-known to play favorites for senior players, needing near failures for him to bench them in favor of younger players. (Exhibit A: White, Brendon). Urban was very close with Burrow, the team loved him, and he was an Ohio boy with a year on Haskins - but Urban picked the talent over seniority. I'm glad he did.

• 2nd, a question: I wonder how this season would have shaken out if Burrow was the starter? Would his dual threat capability had an impact on, say, the Purdue game? Would he have been able to play UM or PSU the way Haskins did? Hard to know, of course, but interesting to think about.

• 3rd: I do wonder if Burrow hadn't hurt his hand if this all would have happened? What if Haskins didn't go into the UM game last year? What if it was Burrow? Would we have won last year? Curious.

Anyway, just popped into my mind today and figured I'd share in case anyone had some thoughts.
