Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett was named Tuesday as one of 45 preseason candidates for this year's Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, which honors college football's best offensive player with a connection to the state of Texas.
Texas running back D'Onta Foreman won the award last year.
Barrett, who grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas, was previously a finalist for the Earl Campbell Award in 2014.
