I actually don't think it's as crazy a thought as most people believe. If we believe the betting favorite should win a majority of games, then you can figure Clemson, Bama, Oklahoma, Iowa, sparty, Florida St, and us all win. That means OkSt, *ichigan, and Florida have all lost and are done. I also believe stanford will pummel ND, so they're gone.
Let's say that a scrappy TCU team pulls it together for long enough to knock off Baylor, that would leave the playoff rankings looking something like this going into championship weekend:
1) Clem 2) Okla 3) MSU 4) Bama 5) Iowa 6) OSU 7) Stan 8) a bunch of teams that are out, led by FSU
During championship week, Oklahoma and us do not play and Bama and MSU likely win. This means Iowa is out. That leaves Clemson, us and stanford as the only possible options for the last spot. If stanford loses their done. But what happens if Clemson drops their game to UNC? Do they let Clemson limp into the 4 spot? Or do they give it to the good guys?
