I just looked at the B1G MBB standings. Going into today's games, Ohio State is #1 in the number of games played against AP or USA poll (top 25) ranked teams. Of their 19 games, 8 (42%) have been against what were considered top 25 teams at the time the teams played. If you've been fretting about OSU's 11-8 (3-5) record, does this information make you any more hopeful about the 2nd half of the season and how (where) OSU may finish (e.g., making the Tournament or not)? Here's a glimpse of B1G teams' number of games against top 25 opponents to date. (In cases where the AP and USA polls disagreed, I took the higher number):
Team: # of games against top 25 opponents / total games (percentage):
- OSU: 8/19 (42%)
- Purdue: 7/21 (33%)
- Illinois: 6/19 (32%)
- Washington: 6/20 (30%)
- Oregon and Michigan: 5/19 (26%)
- Maryland: 5/20 (25%)
- Teams in the middle (too many to list)
- MSU: 3/18 (17%)
- Wisconsin, Minnesota, USC, and Rutgers: 3/19 (16%)
- Indiana and Iowa: 2/20 (10%)
