Ohio State's women's basketball team won a share of the Big Ten title with Iowa. It's the third title in Coach McGuff's tenure since being hired in 2013.

Ohio State has won, by far, more conference regular season titles than any other school with 16. Iowa is second with 10.

Because of some games being cancelled that could not be rescheduled, Maryland and *ichigan finished percentage points behind Ohio State and Iowa and would have also claimed a share of the title, if they'd been able to play that cancelled game (and won). Those games not being rescheduled cost Maryland a chance at a 4th straight regular season conference title.

It also cost *ichigan a chance to win its first regular season championship in women's basketball. The Wolverines are one of five schools in the conference that have never won a women's regular season basketball title since basketball became a sport some 40 years ago (1982-83). The Wolverines have also never won a Big Ten tournament title.

Coach McGuff will be trying to win his second Big Ten tournament title this year. His teams split the two previous visits under his guidance, winning in 2018 and losing in 2020. Both of those previous trips ended with championship games against Maryland.

If you're interested in some fun reading, be sure to check out the lamentations of *ichigan's women's basketball coach, bitterly complaining about her team missing out on a chance at a co-championship because the league could not reschedule games.
