During yesterday's conditioning drills, Tyler Heintz, 19, became unconscious and unresponsive. Paramedics were immediately called at 9:18 a.m. and Heintz was transported from Dix Stadium to UH Portage Medical Center.
The Kenton High School alum was pronounced dead at 11:34 a.m. The cause of death is currently unknown, but an autopsy will be performed.
Unfortunately for Kent State, Heintz is the second football player to die since 2014. Jason Bitsko died from an enlarged heart and was found in his bedroom in August of 2014.
Tyler Heintz passed away after a Kent State workout today Shocked and bewildered is all we can say. Pray for his family.

Kenton High School will also have guidance counselors available at today's workouts for the football players who knew the young man.
Thoughts and prayers.
