Have been reading all about the need to switch from Dalvik (JIT) to Android RunTime (ART) for improved performance and battery life at the expense of storage...

So far ART seems to be killing my battery with no apparent improvement in performance, if anything it has made some apps worse (Zite, Pocket, work email, etc)...
