Tom Herman brought his defensive coordinator Todd Orlando from Houston to Texas. Tuesday, Herman took an apparent shot at his old defenders when he said he's seen Orlando make chicken salad out of "lesser parts."

From CBS Houston:

“We could go out and practice and make it the best position,” Herman said. “I’ve seen things like that happen. But it is a concern knowing the league we play in. But I also know we’ve got four defensive coaches that are as good as there are in the country; I’ve seen Todd Orlando make chicken salad out of some lesser parts.”

Wednesday, Houston All-American defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who tweeted and deleted "Why you lie to [us] coach?" after Herman departed Houston, took another shot at his former coach.

When asked about the difference in head coaching from Herman and new Cougar frontman Major Applewhite, Oliver told Houston Chronicle reporter Joseph Duarte, "There's a lot less yelling, and a lot more coaching."

Shots. Fired.
