Last season, Virginia Tech opened with the mighty William & Mary. This year, however, the Hokies will open the season against the defending world champions. I don't think I need to explain the situation further within these halls.
Anyway, Virginia Tech is spring practicing, and they're already trucking freshmen. Yesterday, redshirt senior Michael Brainard No. 22 put redshirt freshman Shawn Payne in a world of pain (audio warning: football language):

That's an impressive thumping by Brainard. Time will tell if he can lay the wood like that against the Silver Bullets.
