I said too low because they dropped to 8 this week. Polls are pointless until about week four. There is no way anybody has enough evidence to drop or raise any team after 1 week.
Agreed that Preseason polls are based on pure conjecture, and it would be much more accurate to wait until October. But since that isn't going to happen, early season polls should be very fluid and change wildly. That they don't just shows the bias that goes into the votes.
Polls are pointless all season.
Only the committee matters now. All of these "rankings" mean nothing.
There is plenty of evidence to drop South Carolina.
Yep, Heck based off of what we saw from Oklahoma State and West Virginia giving both #1 and #2 trouble, they should be top 25 for sure now right? So many questions this early, IMO what is great about college football. You always find out who's who in the first three weeks. I love how Georgia is in the top 10 again.... every year, I bet they lose to South Carolina and probably 3 other games.
Dustin Fox was our leading tackler as a corner.... because his guy always caught the ball.
Just Right - There is no one above us that I'd feel too confident of beating, if we were playing them this week.
I actually like the idea of MSU being ranked higher, especially going into the game on Nov 8.
I voted too high. We have the weakest cupcake non-conference schedule. Struggled against a pathetic Navy squad. We only play one ranked team this year, and that team wont even be ranked after this weekend when they get spanked by Oregon. Urban has lost every high profile game as the Bucks coach. We can only win at home against ok competition. I feel that we should be ranked somewhere around 25-28 an even that is a stretch.
Pathetic Navy squad? What are you basing that on?
The first two sentences already reavealed yourself as a troll if you believe that.
Yeah, well…that’s just like, your opinion, man.
Geez, someone pee in your cereal, dog? Or are you a Florida Gator fan trolling this site and forgetting that Urban Meyer brought you 2 NCs on the back of Tim Tebow...before Gator football became irrelevant again?
To be clear, I too, believe a top 10 ranking for this OSU team is too high.....at this point in time.
We'll learn a lot about this team on Saturday night, but, despite so much to be excited about with this team, there are too many ?? to be thumping our chests -- and they don't need to be re-reviewed here.
I agree that polls this early are crap, but if we are stuck with them, then based on an "eye test" I would put this Buckeye team between 10 and 15 without Braxton Miller and with this shaky O line and Defense.
Which non-conference schedule looks easier?
A: Navy, Virginia Tech, Kent State, and Cincinnati (teams with a combined record of 30-21 and 3 bowl appearances last season).
B: WVU, Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss, and Western Carolina (teams with a combined record of 13-35 and ZERO bowl appearances last season).
Thanks for playing, troll.
My first grey out! I forgot to italicize so everyone can see the sarcasm. I live in Colorado, and even CU fans are giving me crap about being a Buckeye. I can take the hate, but it does get old after awhile.
This is a young team, mistakes will be made. A couple losses are inevitable, perhaps I am wrong, but to think we are a top 10 team this early in the season (or trying to determine any top 10) is slightly delusional.
Kind of a shame we have a cap on DVs, this one might have set a record.

At this point - One should not care.......
Just right. I think being dropped in the polls will help with the mentality of the team. The Bucks beat a very good Navy team and yet dropped. The Bucks have to feel that they must play better to prove they are the real thing which I believe they are. Oh, and by the way, be sure to clap properly while remaining seated.

Just right, but I believe we won't climb up to #4 or higher even if we run the table. I think the fix is in, now that Braxton is hurt, to keep us out of the playoff. Just my $0.02
"Say my name."
The correct answer is actually "much too early", but I suppose OSU at eight sounds about right.
Subject to change, of course.
I think the eight spot is fine, just don't understand the drop after a win against Navy with this set of circumstances after a single week of play. I'm one of those folks that feels rankings shouldn't begin until about week four though.
Isn't this drop mostly based on Braxton being out? I feel like we would've dropped regardless of how much we beat Navy by...
A little is better than nada, sometimes you want the whole enchilada
I think we are just right. We are in the driver's seat for our season. The drop will motivate this hungry team.
I said too high. The game against Navy did little to show that our defense has improved at all, we didn't see anything from the secondary and it was a spotty performance by our front seven against a tricky offense. Our offense showed glimpses of what they can do at the end, but I wish I could have seen the same things from them all game.
I'm not sure where to put this team right now, but I think by the end of the year they could be a top 10 squad.
I personally like them in the 10 - 15 range. I'd probably say 11 if I got pushed. Lots of potential, could move up, but so young and raw everywhere (except D-line). Should be a great year, regardless. I'm excited to see our coaching staff do work with this team. If you don't watch college football to appreciate the growth and development of players, you should quit watching.
Our O-line play is not top 10. It has a long way to go to reach that level. We are currently ranked too high.
In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...
