Which running back leads the Buckeyes in carries in the opener against Buffalo?

I went with Bri'onte.  I think he's got a good shot to have the most carries since had a good opening week of practice this year.  He's a big back with speed and power.  I think Rod Smith will be up there too, but the coaches will want to play some of the younger guys against Buffalo a little more, just as long as the Bucks can stretch the lead to a comfortable level.
Should be good to see some of the guys get carries that haven't in the past.
Go Bucks!

It's a Dunn deal. Bri'onte goes for 126 on 16 carries. You read it here first!

I think Dunn could have a big game and start earning a lot of carries as the season progresses...I really like his potential

It's Rod Smith's time to step up, know he can do it.

I agree.  My scarlet colored glasses tell me his fumbling days are behind him, and has a monster year.

I remember a guy back in the early nineties that had a fumbling issue early on in his career.

He turned out okay....

I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.

I was going to mention Eddie in my previous comment, but he really only had fumbling issues his first year.  Rod has had them for the last 2 years.

No downvote from me, but I'm happy to disappoint you.

Well let me disappoint you then...Rod Smith isn't Eddie George AND NEVER WILL BE ANYTHING CLOSE TO HIM!

I said he'll turn out okay, not turn into a 1900+ yard Heisman winner.

The point is fumbling issues can be overcome...either on the field or the fansite.

Plus Ed ran solo in a run first scheme, I think Rod won't have that sort of opportunity...even if he takes over for Hyde next year.

Sorry for not bringing my caps lock for that.

Could very well be true, but someone on the staff had their "Looking Forward" glasses on & knew Smith wouldn't be available.  : )

Why is Rod Smith on here as a wild card? Is there an truth to the suspension rumor?

I was asking the same thing. I wonder if there is some truth to this article: http://thedirty.com/2013/08/ohio-state-abuse-of-players/

osu07asu10's picture

I don't know if he is suspended or not...but Jordan Hall has been named the starter so I'm going with him.

There's no truth to that article. It was already established that it was a fake twitter account that some troll set up. The crap people believe without doing research is just ridiculous, but I guess Twitter really allows that crap to happen too.

To be fair, a pretty reliable insider on the O-Zone said that he was going to be suspended for a game. But I agree. I've gotten to the point to where I won't trust anything until I read it here from one of the 11W staffers.

Unky Buck's picture

The suspension may in fact be true, but the link he posted was something about the fake twitter account saying they're being overworked at practice, some fan saying he's a friend of his on Facebook saying that's what he's been telling him, and then the guy who runs it basically telling him to grow a pair.
A fake twitter account isn't going to cause him to be suspended. If he's going to miss a game, it's something far more egregious than some troll creating a fake Twitter account making up false accusations.

mh277907's picture

Oh yea, I definitely agree. That seemed fake the second I looked at it. Plus it was on a website called "thedirty."

I'm guessing that Rod and Jordan will get the bulk of the carries throughout the first half and maybe into the 3rd quarter, with Bri'onte and the other young guys taking turns throughout the rest of the 2nd half.
Really hoping to see Rod take advantage of this opportunity to step up while Carlos is out, so Jordan can finally be used the way Urban wants him to be used.

averagejoel419's picture

Ezekiel Elliot will hopefully get about 7 to 10 fourth quarter carries in mop up time which will prob be tops for our potential 5 RBs being used, on top of attempts possibly going to Braxton and KG.

I went with Hyde. There's just something about a super wildcard I cant say no to.

One of my favorite Always Sunny episodes right there. One of the funniest shows of all time, imo.

This is my favorite scene in all of Sunny. "Wild Card Bitches!" is also how I justify doing something stupid with my friends.

Boomcat's picture

Why is Jordan Hall not on there? It's not like he is our starting RB or anything.

IBleedSandG's picture

Not buying the suspension talk w/ Rod, so I say he puts up a 100 on Buffalo. On like 14 carries.

I chose Hyde...simply because I've never played a "super" wildcard and I wanted to put that on my Resume.

Thanks for the opportunity 11W!!

DannyBeane's picture

I went with Brionte. Dude's a star just waiting to shine.

GoBucksOSU's picture

How is Rod Smith a wildcard. I thought he would be starting with Hyde out.

Buckeyejason's picture

Nah, when's he not fumbling or missing team flights he's suspended for a game...didnt ya know!?

BUCKEYES BABY!

Kindell's picture

I chose Dunn but I think I wouldn't be too surprised if Ball leads them in carries.  I think it is going to start out with Hall, and than Smith getting the carries the next series.  Eventually they will take control of the game and Dunn and Ball are going to get plenty of touches.

rekrul's picture

I think we will be up close to 40 before half with Braxton and starters coming out for the first series in the 2nd half, unless they look bad, they will be out and Guyton and less expierenced players will be introduced to early extended playing time.  So I think the reason that 1, 2, and 3 are not wild cards is because one of those guys will get hot and may get the ball 15+ times against a wore out depleted overmatched Buffalo team.

Out Work, Out Think, Out Play!!!

Buckeyejason's picture

Jordan Hall is the easy answer. I think Dunn goes THE FARK OFF when he comes in though!

I went with Hyde. I'm a sucker for a good underdog story. Plus, it said he was a SUPER wildcard, which I assumed was what superman is to the average joe, expect for wildcards.

Rod Smith is looking like a super wildcard now too :(
