People Are Saying Mean Things About Aaron Craft's Jump Shot on Twitter

By DJ Byrnes on May 15, 2014 at 11:14a

Aaron Craft participated in the NBA Combine today. His three-point shooting was not precise, but anybody who watched Aaron Craft play for more than ten minutes already knew his shooting wasn't his ticket to the NBA.

This didn't stop the little people from having their fun, though:

It wasn't all bad for Craft on Twitter, however:

According to Craft's Wikipedia page, his birthday is on February 12th.

But hey, if the NBA thing doesn't pan out, there's always overseas ball or medical school. I think Aaron Craft is going to be okay in life regardless.

That's hard to read, but hardly unexpected.  I want to see Gotlieb try and bring the ball up court against him.  Fuck Doug Gotlieb.

LOL!  I literally laughed out loud.

Phenomenal retort.

Gottlieb's career shooting stats at Okie State:

FG -- 37.9%

3PT -- 23.6%

FT -- 45.3%

Now, what were you saying, Doug?

In his defense, it's really difficult to stayed warmed up when you only take 3 shots every game...

Hilarious, these people think they're coming up with original material about Crafty's shooting...hasn't changed in 4 years!  And VitaminB, love to see ANY of the people talking big on Twitter try to bring the ball up against him!

While I understand completely that his jumper is not good, I can't help but think a small part of these people all want to BE Aaron Craft.  Or at least possess some of his intelligence.  I second the thoughts on Gottlieb....arrogance is a horrible trait and that dude has enough to fill the Shoe.

Clearly I deserved to be down voted.

Racists!

I've never said I 'hate' anyone because that would imply I had any emotion for them whatsoever.

I generally like Doug Gottlieb (I know I am probably in the minority), but he of all people should not be talking about Aaron Craft's shooting.  The guy shot 20% from 3 and under 50% from the free throw line in college.  Aaron Craft is the shooter Gottlieb could only hope to be.

He'll succeed in life no matter what he pursues (well, probably not the NBA). I think it brings out the jealousy in a lot of people.

I had to look again, but the people are walking forward on the sidewalk.... It would appear that his mad skills may be indeed real.

Yeah, well…that’s just like, your opinion, man.

It also appears that the people on the sidewalk are looking at him as if something's out of the ordinary.

My guess is that with the right floor (which is looks like it is really slick/smooth surface see the shine)  and the right shoes (flat bottomed shoes with zero traction) this could get pulled off.  This is an insane version of the moon walk.

He has a hideous jumper. I ain't gonna get mad at people for pointing that out at Craft's NBA evaluation.

Pointing that out?  Seems OK.  Reveling in it?  Pointless and immature.  Ask yourself which of those two more accurately describes the majority of those tweets.

Meh. It's people making dumb jokes. If Craft had played anywhere other than OSU, you wouldn't give this a second thought.

original buckeye's picture

Nah--people going out of their way and taking to twitter to completely trash a guy's game (and revel in it) is pointless and immature, regardless of where the guy played in college.

His outside shooting might be crap, but what he has can't be measured at the combine.  Heart, determination, toughness...I want him on my team every time I step on the court. (just not my NBA team)

So the best defender at the combine has the worst outside shot. BFD.

So, to be honest, Aaron Craft may be like Craig Krenzel. That is to say that the world may be better off if they do something much more important than play sports for a living.

Also, I don't recall people being so critical of Rodman's offense...and he was just a one way player who was in no way, made in the same character as Craft.

Those tractors aren't going to sell themselves.

I love Circle K, but he's essentially made his career out of being an ex-quarterback, not that oh-so-touted premed degree he got from OSU. There *are* some OSU players who have gone on to be doctors, though. The guy who did my knee surgery used to play linebacker. I did a pretty big double take before I remembered that there were two Bellisari brothers :)

+6 HS
jamesrbrown322's picture

Well that is disappointing to hear (Krenzel) and awesome to hear (GREG Bellisari) at the same time. Damn, I love that 1996 OSU D! Probably the most talent that the team has EVER had on the two deep.

9 of 26 is bad in the NBA? yeah right! lets look at some legit NBA shooters results in the combine:

Klay Thompson, yes that Klay Thompson - 9/25

Lance Stephenson - 9/25

I understand its ugly but if ugly was the criteria for bad shooting, Shaq and Michael Kidd Gilchrist shouldn't have been drafted!

I saw a UFO once.......it told me to have a goodyear!

Craft is a horrible shooter. Everybody knows it. He'll bring great defense and good character to any team he plays for.

Side note: It's really stupid to judge someone on 25 shots. You can go out and make 20 threes as easily as you could make 9.

D. Anthony's picture

If Craft wanted Gottlieb's job, they would give it to him today.

On another note I think if Craft spent just 1 week slump-busting, and partying into a drunken coma vs always making good decisions, he's lose that hitch in his shot.

It's not like it was Craft's 3 point shooting that got him to the dance.

He went 9/26?  One could do a lot worse.  I bet if most (if not all) of those tweeters stepped on the court right now and attempted 26 3's, they'd make less than 9.

Since the NBA is mostly about getting the ball in your hands and playing 1 on (1-5) hero ball, yea, I can see why Craft isn't a good fit for the NBA.

Deano's picture

Aaron's role in the NBA will be a situational defender.  He'd play for a team like Miami (barf) that has the scoring it needs from other positions, doesn't have a star at point guard, and could use a good defensive point guard to pester opponents with strong guard play.  He'd play huge minutes against OKC (Westbrook) or Chicago with a healthy Rose.  He'd ride the pine against Indianapolis.

It'll be like his freshman year where he was the 5th offensive option at any time.  Not like his senior year where he got the ball (in my book, inexplicably) when the shot clock was winding down.

Craft does not need to shoot int he NBA.  He be the only one on the floor that actually plays defense 90% of the time.  He can handle the point in an NBA offense and has the ability to dribble penetrate and kick it out to open shooters.  He will instantly be one of the best on guard defenders in the league.  That is why he will be drafted or at the very least be d league and make a team in the long run.
