There's a reason they call Urban Meyer "The Closer."

In what will be a busy next couple days for Ohio State, three-star St. Thomas Aquinas (FL) CB, Damon Arnette, flipped from South Carolina moments ago to become the 25th member of Ohio State's #Elite15 class.

The Arnette File

  • Class: 2015
  • Size: 6-2/185
  • Pos: CB
  • School: St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
  • Composite Rating: ★★★
  • Composite Rank: 60 (CB)

With Ohio State losing the fast-rising Carlton Davis to Auburn last week, the Buckeyes ratcheted up the heat on a different Florida prospect.

Ohio State's late push was enough to get Arnette on campus this past weekend for an official visit, where he was hosted by a fellow defensive back from the south, safety Vonn Bell.

Arnette spent most of his time with co-DC Chris Ash, cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs, and el jefe, Urban Meyer. (He also squeezed in some time with the world's first College Football Playoff Trophy, as evidence above.)

"[Ohio State] was more than I thought. [The visit was] better than I expected," Arnette recently told Eleven Warriors about his trip to Columbus.

And while there might be speculation as to what the 25th commitment could mean for a couple of big fish still in the pond for Ohio State, the Lord of Whispers broke it down bluntly for us earlier today:

What is Ohio State getting in Arnette? I'm no scout, but he appears to be a fluid athlete judging from his senior highlights (via Hudl):

Welcome to Ohio State, Damon Arnette. May your career trajectory resemble that of another St. Aquinas alumnus on Ohio State's roster: DE Joey Bosa.
