Tyvis Powell was the first player to commit to Ohio State after Jim Tressel's resignation. You should never forget that.

Tressel resigned on May 30, 2011. Powell verbally committed on June 1. Tressel had not even moved his things out of his office yet. Recruits like Kyle Kalis would get skittish and run away from Ohio State.

Powell ran directly right for it. The Buckeyes were in full crisis mode when he opened up the recruiting season as the first player to sign up for a tenuous, undetermined situation.

His response to why he chose Ohio State?

I didn't hear anything about the business school going down or falling apart.

Powell has been an enormous contributor to both Ohio State's program culture as well as to its improved secondary. He clinched the Buckeyes' undefeated 2013 regular season in Ann Arbor:

Tonight Powell capped Ohio State's victory over Alabama by snatching Blake Sims' final pass away from the Hail Mary scrum.

Powell was the first player to commit to Ohio State after Jim Tressel's resignation. You should never forget that. Fortunately, he's making sure you never forget his plays either.
