Ohio State has swaths of fans across the globe. Like all historically great franchises, however, their haters outnumber their fans.
There are, after all, many ways to go about hating Ohio State. One way is to completely ignore them. Another it to "derisively" call them Ohio. A third, weirder way, would be to obsess over them on social media.
On November 1st, 2013, Twitter user RoyBrow5471170, rose from the ashes and sent out this tweet:
Ohio State will need more wins like they had against Penn State http://t.co/IruTKs0IyJ via @KevinOnCFB
— Roy Brown (@RoyBrow54071170) November 1, 2013
He then promptly fell off the face of the Twittersphere.
Until July 11th.
Ohio State, you see, is ranked within the top five of most preseason polls. Preseason polls, especially ones printed in July, are worthless. But RoyBrow54071170 thinks Ohio State has no business being in the top five, preseason poll or not, and he's on a mission for answers, starting as early as 6:00 AM on some days.
@BillisKing Ohio st top 5? really?? Who have the Buckeyes beaten since Urban arrived thats makes the nation stand up and take notice?
— Roy Brown (@RoyBrow54071170) July 11, 2014

— Roy Brown (@RoyBrow54071170) July 17, 2014
@zlpaschal you have to admit OSU has played an embarrassingly weak schedule. Then as soon as you played 2 good teams, you lost both games

It gets a little creepier too when you realize I didn't even quote half of the tweets he spammed to multiple media personalities.
It gets a lot funnier, however, when you realize RoyBrow54071170 — not sure what amuses me more: the egg avatar, the misspelling of his last name or the 54071170 — is a Notre Dame fan:
@BillisKing I bet all hell will break loose if Notre Dame makes the final 4 and a team from one of the power 5 confrences gets left off
— Roy Brown (@RoyBrow54071170) July 11, 2014
@schadjoe What if Notre Dame has a surprise season and takes a spot away from a power 5 team in the final 4? - All hell will break loose

@BradenGall I hope you are right. I have a feeling the nation is underestimating The Irish again
— Roy Brown (@RoyBrow54071170) July 16, 2014
@BillisKing Just like they did in 2012 the nation is underestimating this Notre Dame team
— Roy Brown (@RoyBrow54071170) July 16, 2014
@TomLoy247 I wsh ND basketball could recruit half as well as the football team.
— Roy Brown (@RoyBrow54071170) July 16, 2014
some team is gonna come from no where and stun college football again this season...my pick Notre Dame
— Roy Brown (@RoyBrow54071170) July 17, 2014
Given all this, how upset do you think RoyBrow54071170 gets when he thinks about this game:
Or this one?
Suddenly... all that hate is quite understandable.
