The class of 2017 is still in the early stages of the recruiting process, but Ohio State is in the mix for some of 2017's best prospects. One talented player the Buckeyes are looking at in 2017 is an Akron product, Archbishop Hoban running back Todd Sibley.

Sibley, a 5-foot-10, 195-pound running back, is one of the most promising players in the state. In December, Sibley was named to the freshman All-American team by Maxpreps.com.

"That was awesome," Sibley said of making the freshman All-American team. "I'll never forget the day that I got the call from my coach that I had made the team. That was one of the best moments of my freshman season."

Being from Ohio, Ohio State is one of the main schools that Sibley is interested in. He credits that to the program that Urban has created in Columbus.

"The fact that they are the home state team and are a winning program is a big reason as to why I like Ohio State," Sibley said of his interest. "I love Coach Meyer too. The way he coaches his players and just the way he interacts with prospects and his players is amazing."

Recruiting has been slow for Sibley since the end of summer, as he has been getting ready for the season. Sibley has not been to Ohio State recently, but he did visit for the spring game. He enjoyed every part of the game, including getting to come out of the tunnel with the team. He also spent some time with his good friend, Danny Clark, who has been a tireless recruiter for the 2017 class.

Besides the team goal of getting to the playoffs this season (Hoban missed the Division II playoffs in 2013), Sibley is focused on the season and ready to show coaches what he can do. He has a personal goal of rushing for 2,000 yards this season. After rushing for 197 yards and three scores in Archbishop Hoban's first game of the season, he is off to a good start.

There's no telling if Sibley will achieve his goals (even with a good start), or whether his team will make the playoffs. Whether or not his team succeeds, Sibley ought to be one of the best prospects in the nation come signing day 2017.
