Since taking down No. 1 Denver in the Shoe March 19, Ohio State has suffered two losses against the top two teams in the nation.

Ohio State put up their lowest score total on the season against No. 2 Penn State and ultimately suffered a 9-4 loss to the Nittany Lions.

The Buckeyes fought Penn State early as the teams traded blows into the second period, but the Nittany Lions scored six straight goals from the second through fourth period and held the Bucks scoreless in the third to pull away.

Freshman midfielder Tre Leclaire remained a bright spot for the Buckeyes, as he put up two goals. Freshman Ryan Terefenko and sophomore Logan Maccani rounded out the scoring with a goal each.

Senior goalie Tom Carey notched 12 saves while allowing nine goals.

This game was the first of the Buckeyes' conference schedule, so they now sit at 9-2 on the season and 0-1 in the Big Ten.

The team's next match comes at home against No. 13 Johns Hopkins on April 9.
