If nothing else: Marionaire.

It almost certainly won't be in the first round. Right now his reputation is a shooter who can't shoot. I wouldn't be suprised if he went undrafted but we will see.

"You're pissed because we went after a committed guy? Guess what, we got 9 guys who better go do it again," said Meyer. "Do it a little harder next time."

If Cook goes in first round Buford definitely can. It just takes one team to love him during workouts, most likely a 2nd round pick but I can see him being a solid NBA player.

To be fair, Cook was seen as a guy with potential and upside, who perhaps was underused by Matta at OSU. NBA drafts on talent and potential. With Buford it could be a case where GM's may feel like he's shown all of his cards over his 4 years at OSU. If Buford sneaks into the first round, it will be for the reason you said, a team falling in love with him.

I have looked at several Mock Drafts and most have him going in the 2nd Round. One had him going in the late 1st Round (don't remember the site). I don't see how there's any way Buford cracks into the 1st Round. I believe a team will take him in the 2nd Round. But getting taken in the 2nd Round doesn't even guarantee you will make the team.

I am glad he stayed at school all four years and I doubt he could've or would've been drafted had he left earlier, but he may suffer now from staying and from scouts having too much info on him. The NBA drafts more on potential than the NFL, and they are more willing to take on project players. For example, a 7 foot player with decent ability can get drafted, Byron 'BJ' Mullens and Kosta Koufos I'm looking right at you, even though they look like they could use another year or two in college. With Buford perhaps teams will say, what you see is what you get, because they've seen 4 years of the same.

I do think whatever happens he can have a decent career. I watch a lot of NBA and I am constantly surprised who makes it and has a lengthy career versus guys that don't. I wish him the best.

I thought David Lighty would have made a decent NBA player

He still could be. He ended up playing overseas due to the NBA lockout and all the uncertainties there. They didn't have the normal rookie tryouts or camps so guys like Lighty missed out on the chance to make a team. Its very possible that this coming season he could make a team.
