Today Mozilla released the latest version of Firefox. In private mode, it comes standard with disabled tracking. This prevents sites from sending targeted content based on facebook likes, recent searches, and browsing history.

There are certain benefits such as a cleaner and potentially faster browsing experience. The drawbacks are also evident. Most free online publications are supported by ads. That includes our favorite place, 11Warriors. But it also includes larger entities like ESPN, Slate, and SI. Will they continue to exist and be free if this technology gains widespread use?

The private window is Firefox accepting that the internet can be used for ashley madison, pornhub, etc. But it can also be helpful if you were shopping for a gift and didn't want that same item to pop up when your wife uses the same computer later in the day.

My personal feeling is that I am glad the option exists. However, for 11w, since Jason asked nicely, I plan to continue to use standard browsing.
