PAC-12
TOP PROSPECTS
No. 5 PAC-12 // 43 Commitments // 91.6 Power Rating Avg

Conference Overview
The PAC-12 opens the initial rankings in last position with an average power rating of 91.6. At this point Larry Scott's conference does not have a school ranked in the top 10 of the power ratings. Oregon's slow start coupled with poor performances by Utah and Oregon State equals last place.

Tops and Bottoms
Stanford's early lead in the conference is bolstered by three offensive commits with four-star rankings. At the heels of the Cardinal are UCLA, Washington, Oregon and USC. The PAC-12 has the tightest grouping at the top of the conference and should be fun to follow.

Utah comes in at the bottom of the conference with power rating of 70.6. The only schools with a lower rating are Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech. Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham needs more than unranked DT John Penisini to move up the rankings.

Through April there were only three players in the Power Five conferences without a ranking. Two of the players are in the PAC-12 (Arizona and Utah). More than half of the conference's commits are rated as three-star players.

BIG 12
TOP PROSPECTS
No. 4 Big 12 // 56 Commitments // 92.8 Power Rating Avg

Conference Overview
The Big 12 is starting the 2017 recruiting season better than it did 2016. Especially when it comes to its premier programs. Last year at this time Texas and Oklahoma combined for eight commitments. This year the two schools have 18. When you add solid starts from Baylor and TCU it adds up to fourth place for the Big 12.

Tops and Bottoms
Bob Stoops already has 12 commits in 2017 and has put the Sooners' in second place of the 64 Power Five conference teams with earned 102.7 points. Oklahoma would have been higher had four-star WR Ceedee Lamb not decommitted in April.

Last year Iowa State and Colorado owned the basement in the Big 12. Not so this year as the Kansas State Wildcats start the year with an 85.2 power rating. Bill Snyder has only snagged two players through April. The players check in with ratings of .864 and .807 and that gives Kansas State last place in the Big 12.

The Big 12 is the only P5 conference not to have a five-star commit. Oklahoma has 10 of the Big 12's 21 four-star players. That's a big reason why the Sooners have a large lead in the conference.

ACC
TOP PROSPECTS
No. 3 ACC // 86 Commitments // 94.5 Power Rating Avg

Conference Overview
The ACC opens the initial in the middle of the pack. That is somewhat surprising as eight of the 14 teams in the conference have a power rating at, or above, the Power Five average of 89.7. An upswing should occur in John Swofford's conference when Louisville, Pitt and Syracuse get verbals from more than three players.

Tops and Bottoms
One would reasonably expect Florida State to be the top ranked team in the ACC. One would be wrong. Miami already has 15 commitments and leads the ACC with a 100.7 power rating. The Seminoles (99.1) are in third behind Clemson. The Hurricane's will probably be replaced at the top by the end of the summer. With an average player rating of .875 the Hurricanes won't be able to hold off Florida State and Clemson as they gain more commits.

Georgia Tech is currently in last place in the ACC. The Yellow Jackets have one commit, but that player is a kicker. Since kickers, long snappers and punters don't register in the power rankings Paul Johnson's squad has a rating of zero and is tied for last among the Power Five conferences. Other ACC schools that need to pick up the pace are Syracuse, Virginia and Wake Forest.

Clemson has the ACC's only five-star player with dual-threat quarterback Hunter Johnson. Florida State, Clemson and Miami account for 14 of the ACC's four-star commits.

B1G
TOP PROSPECTS
No. 2 B1G // 101 Commitments // 96.2 Power Rating Avg

Conference Overview
The B1G currently has the most commits of any of the other Power Five Conferences. The large haul has put Jim Delaney's schools just outside the top spot. Unfortunately, The B1G's strong start will probably falter as the other conferences catch up with more commits. Another stumbling block for the Big Ten is that the average commit has a ranking five points below the average player committed to the Power Five. In short the Big Ten is in second place due to quantity over quality.

Tops and Bottoms
Ohio State, the crown jewel of the Big Ten, currently has the top-rated recruiting class in the country. Don't expect the Buckeyes to own that spot in February as the limited number of scholarships will prevent Ohio State from earning enough points. However, Urban Meyer's 2017 class will compete for the crown of the top player rating average.

Probably to nobody's surprise is that Purdue is ranked at the bottom of the B1G. The Boilermakers only have one commit and rank 61st out of the 64 P5 schools with a power rating of 80.7. Keep on chugging Purdue, keep on chugging.

With five commitments rated as five-star players the B1G is tied for the most with the SEC. Ohio State leads the conference with two five-stars. Iowa, Maryland and Michigan each have one. With the Big Ten having the most commits it should not be a surprise that the conference has the lead in four-star players (28) and 3-star players (65).

SEC
TOP PROSPECTS
No. 1 SEC // 90 Commitments // 96.3 Power Rating Avg

Conference Overview
The SEC has 12 of its 14 teams above 91.0. That is impressive. It's also the reason the conference was able to edge out the B1G for the top spot even though it has 11 fewer commits. Sometimes quality is better than quantity.

Tops and Bottoms
Alabama is where you would expect them to be, first. The Crimson Tide leads the SEC with a 101.7 power rating. Kirby Smart is making waves with Georgia on the recruiting trail and has the Bulldogs in second place with 100.0 points.

Two teams are dragging the SEC down. Vanderbilt and Missouri are the only two schools not ranked above 90.0. The Tigers check in with a power rating of 89.2 and the Commodores have zero recruits and zero points.

The SEC is tied with the B1G with five players with five-star ratings. Not surprising is that Alabama has two of the five stud players.Auburn, LSU and Texas A&M are the other schools with five-star players. However, with Tate Martell's recent change of heart the Aggies and the SEC will have one less five-star player in the next rankings.
