There are always some fans who are fanatics, so yes, a few are unrealistic. I love when OSU curb stomps people. I'd like that to happen every week. I KNOW it won't. Yes, there is the fact that we are talking about college kids, too.
However, I sense a troubling trend. Many fans here on 11w are rational and realistic about their expectations. They question the playcalling, lack of player development, etc. the response is to create a "straw man" kind of argument and lump ALL of that questioning into a "OSU fans won't be happy if we don't hang 60 on every opponent and if JTB doesn't throw for 300 yards every game.
I think the majority are being entirely realistic when they expect:
- More the 93 yards passing against Indiana
- To beat a PSU team still weak from sanctions
- To score more than 24 points against Northwestern
- To see 4 & 5 star (Top 5 classes) regularly outclass opponents
- Development for players who've been in the program for 2-3 years
- Adjustments to be made to the Cover 3, like lesser teams adjust to us
- How to "hide" our weakness on defense with a little creativity
If the above is "unrealistic" then I and many 11w folk are guilty.
However, if - given OSU's prominence and recruiting and having UFM, etc. - they are realistic (as I think they are), we need to stop deflecting from the problems by blaming the fans expectations.
