One of the problems that I have with the schedule is that the winner of the B1G championship game gets possibly another two games, and with talk of 8 team playoffs possibly 3 more games. This would add potentially 4 more games to the OSU schedule in National Title years.
We know the 9 game conference schedule is coming. My idea would be to play 8 conference games 6 against those teams in your side of the bracket and two from the other side. When the season is done have the teams from the east play the teams from the west one through 7. Have the east host in even years and the odd host in odd years. Pay the championship teams a double portion because they aren't hosting. If there are repeat matchups from the regular season, shuffle a team up or down one spot to get the best matchups.
This would:
1. Give you a nine game B1G season without overtaxing the winners.
2. Give you some tasty matchups that wouldn't be on the schedule, and possible east-west rivalries for lower finishing teams.
3. Highlight the B1G on a weekend with less football
What do you think?
