Wolverine Packing Company

Michigan meat-packer recalls 1.8 million pounds of ground beef due to E. coli infections.  No truth to the rumor that Brady Hoke's been hovering around the premises, waiting for the trucks to arrive.

You might expect U-M to send a cease-and-desist letter over the meat-packer's use of "Wolverine" in its name.  But really, it's even odds which of these institutions is doing more damage to the brand these days.

A comedy of errors

Wait, wouldn't just cooking the beef properly kill it off, or is this a particularly resistant strain?

Class of 2010.

It certainly should, but the problem is with meat that isn't properly cooked that is also contaminated with a strain that makes humans ill.  If everyone cooked meat to the proper temperature you would hear of quite few less occurrences of contaminated meat, as the first sign of contaminated meat is often someone getting sick after not cooking it properly (as opposed to identifying it prior to distribution, which you may never hear about).
