I know there have been a few posts on this, but wanted to get a list in one place for all of you:
- QB JT Barrett
- FB William Houston (walk-on)
- DL Tracy Sprinkle
- DE/LB Tyquan Lewis
- CB Eli Apple
- DB Cam Burrows
Looks like that will be it, even including prospects still out there. With OSU switching to semesters this year, it takes away the chance for two early enrolling periods (start of winter quarter and start of spring quarter) like in years past.

Do they give Barrett the playbook before he send in his LOI?
I'm sure they have given him some things to start looking at, but JT is coming off a knee injury that he is rehabbing right now, so unfortunately it is unlikely he plays during the spring. This means a lot of study time in the playbook and with film, which will be a good opportunity for him to let the game slow down. He will be on the field most likely this fall, so he should be up to speed mentally with the playbook.
OT for the original post, but speaking of JT do you think he'll get a redshirt this season? I know that he said to you in an interview a long time ago (before the knee injury) that he's open to a redshirt, but are you pretty confident now that it will happen?
I think it will depend on his recovery. I won't be surprised if, since his recovery seems to be progressing well, he gets garbage time snaps. That said, it also depends on how Cardale progresses. If Urban is as confident in Jones as he was in Guiton, I think they'll try to preserve the redshirt.
I bet he will, no need for him to waste a year sitting behind both Miller and Guiton and possibly Jones. If anything they can pull the redshirt later on the year if the unthinkable happens and both Miller and Guiton go down.
I think he'll definitely be behind Jones. Urban like Jones a lot as a QB, and assuming he can "play school" and learn the playbook, he'll be at an advantage.
@Kareem. That's what I figured. He's going to be spending much of the year rehabbing his knee injury and there is sort of a logjam at the position. Spending a year getting healthy and learning the offense would be great.
I don't presume to know Cardale or how he would look in the offense, but Meyer's offense is predicated on a quarterback who is smart enough to see the defense and make the read. I'm not going to judge Cardale based on some not-so-smart tweets because really it's just the football IQ that matters, but if he is unable to make those reads then Barrett (who by all accounts has a high football IQ) will easily pass him on the depth chart.
Well Jamarcus Russell and Terrelle Pryor, though not running a full option offense, were able to make good reads in college, despite being some of the worst wonderlic scorers in history. The correlation doesn't seem to exist as much at the college level
I am pretty sure that Dan Marino failed to get into double digits on the wonderlic.
He got a 15, but that's still pretty bad
And refresh me on how many Super Bowls the million dollar arm, quick release master won??
They could always have Jalin Marshall get a few reps if miller and guiton go down. Not exactly the passer but I believe they said he can have a shot at QB if he wants it.
I respect the kid for deciding to go to a school that would change his role on the field. He's actually a solid QB prospect, and could get a full ride to play D1 football as a QB. Looking at his athleticism and his tapes from the elite 11 camp, he looks to have more passing potential that Josh Cribbs ever came close to having, with comparable athleticism. My dad went to KSU so I've seen a lot of MAC football between them and Akron and Marshall could excell in the MAC.
Or Darron Lee.
I think he will...with Cardale and Guiton coming back, no need to force him onto the field
It would be nice to see JT enroll early with no injury, but I really don't believe he would have seen an extensive amount of playing time in the spring game either way. Urban wants to see Braxton and Kenny do their thing in simulated game type situations. JT or any other 2014 QBs won't have to worry about playing time until 2015...or if Braxton gets injured during 2014 since Kenny will be gone. I'll be honest...I can't wait to see what JT is able to do...the 2014 QB will just be icing on the QB cake IMO;-)

playing db is almost as tough to get down as qb. apple and burrows getting in early is a huge plus. and jt getting to do his rehab at this level a few months earlier has also got to come into play
I dont know karate but i do know crazy and i'm not afraid to use it.

Good to see JT enroll early if nothing else than to rehab at OSU and let Mariotti control part of that.
It would be nice to see how would Eli and Cam perform during the spring game!!
i disagree with the notion of cb being as hard as qb. although, the jump from highschool to top notch college comp is very tough for anyone
mark may wins douchebag of the year... again
Believe that William Houston preferred walk-on fb was also enrolling early.
added Houston
Speaking of Houston, I remember reading how he wants to earn his scholarship for what would be his soph year... Do you see the staff giving him one of our limited scholarships next season? Or does that just depend on how well he does?
Combination of both. Under Meyer, there are no freebies and he will have to earn it. Devlin McDaniel is another guy I've seen/read about walking on and getting a scholarship down the road....
Yeah I agree, I guess I was more so meaning next year's class, our last class of having scholarship reductions... or if he does earn it by his play, would they just wait till his JR year when we're back at 85 schollies to give him one?
Best thing is the strength training
