While fans have been engrossed by the inaugural College Football Playoff, college football's power brokers have been busy, formulating a business model that includes paying players. Obviously, this will draw a dividing line between programs that can pay and programs that can only offer a full-ride scholarship as payment. Worse, some - if not many programs - will see even the latter as infeasible and cease to exist.
I think Ohio college football is the sport's bedrock. Regionally, the MAC has a proud tradition that has spawned many great coaches and players. But, with this new college football reality looming, I worry about the future of these programs:
