Five-Star Oklahoma RB Joe Mixon Accused of Fracturing a Woman's Face

Another day, another high-profile athlete accused of violence against women. Today's lucky winner is 24/7's 2014 No. 1 running back, Joe Mixon.

Mixon, originally from California, was seen as coupe for the Sooners when he commited to Oklahoma. If accusations that came to light this morning are true, however, Mixon will never play a meaningful minute for the Sooners.

From USA Today:

Mixon's attorney, Kevin Finlay, told The Norman Transcript on Friday evening that Mixon had not been arrested, but was "fully cooperating with authorities and look forward to resolving this matter."

According to an incident report obtained by USA TODAY Sports, at 2:44 a.m. Friday, Norman police responded to a report of an altercation at Pickleman's Gourmet Café, located in the Campus Corner district adjacent to the University of Oklahoma campus. Notes from the report indicate "a female was hit in the face by a male subject – (subject) is gone – she is in the bathroom – she is (conscious) and she is intoxicated – she is bleeding from the mouth – no difficulty breathing."

Violence against a woman is never a good idea, and fleeing the scene of an incident like this is especially dumb.

The woman, a 5'7" 130 lbs freshman, accused Mixon of harassing her group of friends before attacking her. Naturally, after having her face broken in four places, she wants justice against her attacker:

Molitor also told The Oklahoman she hopes Mixon serves time in prison.

"That's what he deserves," she said. "I don't care if he's the star running back or not."

Obviously, Mixon is innocent until proven guilty.

Wow just wow. Stoops has to step up to the plate after signing DGB and calling out the sec. Mixon had incredible talent but if true looks like he might waste it all away in a prison.

Mark my words..I don't need acceptance. I'm catching interceptions on you innocent pedestrians.

I hope the OSU players stay clear of this nonsense.

Right, BroJim. We've only got a few weeks left before the season starts. I'm hoping the band scandal is the last of it for OSU this summer. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Definitely understand everyone's opinion on here BUT we still don't know anything about what happened. Are there witnesses supporting any of this? Where are her friends? Maybe she came at him with a busted bottle..who knows. And lastly, maybe he is completely guilty in which case he will get what is coming to him. In the meantime I am going to stick with innocent till proven guilty. Given his lawyer has been upfront in saying he is innocent, and did nothing wrong, I think there could be more to this. Either way the timing could not be any worse and the young man will always be associated with violent behavior towards women (innocent or not).

Jeez when are people going learn that you can not hit a woman! Especially when your twice their size. Unless your life is in danger, there is no excuse.

Mac..yeah

You cannot hit anyone* fixed it for you. I do not believe it should be held in different light regardless of sex. You strike someone not in self defense your ass should be gone. *cough* Hill *cough*

My vote is LSU. A team vote will get him in.

Sounds pretty clear that someone abused this girl. That makes the case a lot easier to prosecute than Winston or Hyde. Doesn't look good Joe.

It was down to OU and Wisconsin for him, if I recall.  Should have went to Madison.  He's gone, Stoops won't hesitate.

fairly sure it was SC or UCLA that was his 2nd choice. You may be right but I remember reading a lot about him surprising UCLA/SC people with his choice of OU and that a flip to one of them was likely before NSD.

Sometimes OSU not getting a prime recruit turns out to be a good thing.  Case in point - prime recruit (allegedly) breaks a woman's face.  Total piece of shit if he truly did it.

if true, theres no sympathy from me. Its one thing to do something stupid to jeopardize opportunities to success, its another to do something this horrible.

"Violence against a woman is never a good idea, and fleeing the scene of an incident like this is especially dumb" Not if she didn't see him clearly or didn't know who he was. A lot of crimes on college campuses go unreported. Now obviously fleeing the scene from your crime(assuming he did it) then talking to the investigators isn't smart, but these crimes are spur of the moment rage typically. Violence against women can actually be a really good idea if you're an attractive, manipulative, serial killer. Ask Ted Bundy. Just not for CFB players. I hope whichever fuck that did this gets a good amount of prison time for GBH.

And I do think people tend to get a bit hypocritical with violence between the sexes. When a dude gets beat half to death after instigating it and when a girl gets beat up after instigating it, people will definitely care far more about the girl. They have also done social experiments with children on the side of the road crying and clearly lost, and the girl got helped out almost three times as much as the boy. It is imprinted in us to be far more protective of women than men, to a degree that surpasses them being more vulnerable(such as the previous one I stated with the children where the circumstances were equal). Now I know I will probably get down voted or called sexist(even though I am very much not), but it isn't going to change the fact that I don't care that some trashy woman who threatened and spit on a bus driver got uppercutted. I don't feel the need to change my evaluations to that degree just because of a change in sex.

+3 HS
cinserious's picture

I feel you bruh. These things really need to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Sometimes a trashy woman would physically and verbally do things to a man 50X before he responds physically (to a much less degree). You know what? Its that one physical response by the man that draws outrage, while the five minutes of verbal and physical abuse draws a snicker among onlookers.

I understand where you are coming from. Some valid points are brought up. As I stated earlier, she could have swung at him first, or had a busted bottle. If that is the case, and he defended himself, then I feel no sympathy for her. I have taken MMA, boxing, BJJ and much more - and while I would never unload on an undeserving person, in self defense you just react. That being said violence is your last alternative - but sometimes it can't be avoided. If he punched her once in self defense its quite possible she had all the fractures.
