Everett Golson Returns from Exile, Practices with Irish

Everett Golson was kicked out of Notre Dame last year due to academic cheating. Notre Dame's 2013 season didn't fare much better after that.

After serving a year in exile, however, Golson has paid his debt to society and is back with the Irish:

"I want to say surreal in a sense," Golson said after the Fighting Irish's first spring practice. "I felt accomplished for a split moment, that I went through what I went through and now I'm back and I'm moving forward now and still continuing that process of trying to grind and be better."

Golson was contacted by other schools to gauge his interest in potentially transferring, but Golson remained firm in his commitment to the Irish.

Obviously, the kid made a dumb mistake, but it's always cool to see kids redeem themselves. Considered a redshirt junior now, Gholson will still have to earn the starting job over redshirt freshman (and one-time Ohio State target) Malik Zaire.

It will be interesting to see how it shakes out. I'm sure the Domer fans are ecstatic to have him back in the fold, though.

Wonder how many times this will be mentioned during ND games this year ...

On NBC? Probably once if they suck. 4 billion times if they make the playoff. "ND overcame adversity" and all that blah, blah, blah, yakety smackety.

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

"I'd just like to take a second to talk about this well spoken, hard working, fine young man.  He overcame such adversity off the field and you know what, at the end of the day that's the kind of high motor and high character young man I'd like to have marry my daughter."

"Don't get me started on his Athletic ability and how me makes guys miss in space.  This guy is just a winner. Not only is he an Athlete he's a FOOTBALL PLAYER. He really has a head for the game too, you know, he's very cerebral."

"He had a bump in the road but he took ownership of his situation, played the cards he was dealt, took his medicine, slept in the bed he made, took his lumps, then stared himself in the mirror  and came out a more mature individual on the other side."

I know there's a game Saturday, and my ass will be there.

Just threw up in my mouth a little.

“Don’t fear criticism. The stands are full of critics. They play no ball. They fight no fights. They make no mistakes because they attempt nothing. Down on the field are the doers, they make mistakes because they attempt many things.”
