The Rose and Sugar bowls will host college football's first national semifinals on Jan. 1, 2015, with the AT&T Cotton Bowl a "prohibitive favorite" to host the national title game on Jan. 12, 2015. (espn.com)
It's incredible to me that it's taken this long to put this together. There's so much money to be made here and you damn well know that the traditional bowls will get their share.
For once I want to see an National Title game in the northern part of the US. It would bring a different level of challenge for the "Speed" and "Skilled" teams of the southern teams.
I don't want to be a downer but this kind of sucks. I was hoping for a higher seed homefield advantage. Then have the NCG at a neutral field. But then again I wanted a different playoff setup. Oh well, looks like I'll have to be happy to even get it this close.

Really hoping that no one shows up for the semifinal matches. The inherent stupidity of asking loyal fans to schill out travel expenses for possibly two straight games is sheer lunacy. Hopefully, home-site semifinals are only a few years away.
What I fear is going to happen is what happened with the Super Bowl. All the fans will go to the semifinal games, but because of what you just said about asking fanbases to afford the travel expenses cross country, potential corporate ticket dispersals that shrink the school ticket allotment and exorbant ticket prices, the championship game will be full of people who aren't necessarily fans of the two teams playing (i.e. celebrities and corporate CEOs and their families). Ever notice how quiet the Super Bowl is as compared to the conference title games? Imagine how quiet the NCG will be with reduced college fanbases there, even with bands.

It might just be talk to passify us, but they said future NC sites are up for bid, including "cold cities"

What's your favorite hotel in Dallas? I want to celebrate our 3rd straight crystal ball in style.
We did not win it this year. Therefore 2015 could only be our second chance to win it.

Need 8 teams and a home field advantage. But thats for 10 years from now. The best 5 teams are guaranteed to make it with 8 teams.

Playoffs are getting realer? Thank God! That's much more betterer than the system in place now!
