Ohio State's band SLAUGHTERED Michigan's band. If this were a football game, it would have been Florida State vs. Savannah State. - SB Nation following OSU vs. UM 2012
That makes more sense. Nice to see a big market guy come back to a small market for a change, but that usually means the big market doesn't want him anymore. Whatever the case, he's a Buckeye so welcome home.

Hey, I'm a Tribe fan, too. However, winning percentages of .401, .426, .494 and .420 the past 4 seasons says it all. I've been an Indians fan since the days of Pat Tabler, Brook Jacoby, Joe Carter, Andre Thorton and Corey Snyder. I've been to games in the old Municipal Stadium, packed with 7,000 strong, to games in Jacob's/Progressive/Whatever Field. I've seen them rise up in the 90's and continue strong into the early 2000's, the fall again.
There's not a player on Cleveland's roster I would spend money to watch.
I'll take any bit of good news when it comes to Cleveland sports teams. So here's my response to this news: "Yay! An elite player/star athlete wants to come play in Cleveland! Tell him to bring his friends!"
Fortunately, they didn't end up with Edwin Jackson, who is getting paid too much to go .500 in Chicago. 13-13 for 13 million a year? I'd rather have Ubaldo and McAllister with Masterson and the prospects rather than Jackson.
I was hoping the Reds would of let Ludwick go and signed Swisher to a 1 or 2 year deal at 14 million. Of course, with the 4 year deal he got his agent hit a grand slam here. I would definitely take Choo's 380+ lifetime OBP leading off with Swisher's 360+ lifetime OBP batting 2nd ahead of Votto.
Ludwick was a must have for Reds. I would've rather them keep Stubbs than sign Swisher. Choo is a better player and doesn't break the bank. Walt nailed this one.
The reds will only have Choo for one year of they don't show him the money in the offseason (like at least 20 million a year, damn Scott Boras), otherwise, he'll end up with the Bankees or the Tigers for way more than he's worth. He had a very unproductive year last year (granted, the Jake is a tough place to hit) and may see a slow decline over the years. Really like how this turned out for the Tribe.
Wait the Indians made a dumb personnel move? This must be...every year. I'm a Tribe fan through and through, but man am I tired of being in 1st place till July and then falling flat to finish last in the division. I was hoping bringing Francona on board would be a plus, and maybe it will be, but with this roster, adding Swisher does very little to improve it.

Dallas and LA were battling for Swish, too. The Tribe must've really wooed him.

Love swisher, but that's a lot of money for him IMO
Still cheaper than extending Choo

Cleveland will regret this one.

He couldn't hit a beach ball in the playoffs..great pick up!!

The good news is that in Cleveland, just making the playoffs should be good enough for now.

Verlander's gotta be licking his chops to face the Indians now. Between Stubbs, Reynolds, Hafner, and Swisher, he'll have 20 Ks per game.
Come on, Verlander isn't that great, besides, the Tribe went 10-8 against the Motor City Kitties last year.

The Indians needed Meyer, Tressel and Matta on top of the $14m/yr to get Swisher?
I don't mind Swisher, but $14m is crazy.
To be fair, it's 13.5 million.
edit
Saw today the actual contract. Still cheaper and more productive than extending Choo.

Real fans stay for Carmen.
That money should have gone towards pitching vs over-paying an over-rated outfielder.

Who would you rather start, Swisher, Ezekiel Carrera, or Johnny Damon?
