As opposed to his old "Diggs"?

But seriously that place is friggin sweet. RE prices in Ohio are amazing!! An equivalant place on a similar golf course here in the dirty Jerz would be at least 3 or 4 times that.

And we'll drink to old Ohio, 'Til we wobble in our shoes!

So I guess my agent couldn't give me a call and let me know that my super top bid of $130.99 and a coupon for a back rub didn't make the cut.  This is how I have to find out.  Perfect.

Is the Florida room the place where Urbz will hang all his swag from the UF days, like that gigantic championship rug that was in his old house?

It's like the place was built for him.

I remember reading once that Woody lived in a house within walking distance of campus and that the door was always open to players.  Can't help but be disturbed at how far gone those days are...

I have read the same thing about Woody and and Mrs Hayes having an open door policy for their players. His Upper Arlington address is in "A Fire to Win. The life and times of WH". Kind of interesting when you see how times have changed for coaches salaries.

Woody, Tress and I think Earle all lived in Upper Arlington. (I have no idea about Cooper.) UA is where the "old money" lives and Muirfield is where the "new money" lives. Well, that and New Albany. Anyway, this might be a good indication that the Woody/post-Woody era at OSU has taken a serious new turn and the old system is going to become a relic of the past.

You might be correct; sometimes a pole is just a pole. However I find it interesting that the head coach, whose football philosophies are very different than the four coaches which preceded him, has chosen a very different location in which to live.

Just for the sake of comparison I found a property owned by JT (not far from tOSU golf course)

Urb's agent was able to knock 350k off the list price, not too shabby.

@Painterlad. I think Urban has a lot more in common with those coaches of yore than you may think. He has stated he "likes the old coaches, and doesn't really like the new coaches", whatever that means. I take it to mean he keeps it old school in the locker. His offense is definitely modern, thank god.  And don't forget Earle is like his 2nd father.  Food for thought.

Sarge,

It seems to me that Meyer didn't have the bonds of the Old School weighing him down when he made the site location for his home. I have no idea how that translates into how he runs his program, but to me it is telling that he picked somewhere other than UA. UA is close to the school and has many of the traditional blue-blood donors.

I would point out that this decision was only 50% Urban's (maybe less), his wife may have had as much, or more influence, on where their home is located.  Fickell lives in Powell near the zoo, or he did, last I knew his place was for sale.

He should have bought Herbie's house in UA - it's far nicer, and 5 minutes from the office!

I heard it didn't work out cause Herbie had terms in the purchase to include "Kirk Herbstreit: OSU Quarterbacks Coach".

Come to think of it, it's probably safe for Herbie to move back now anyway.
