Interesting choices; Logan Mankins sat out half the year, but still made first team, the second team QB was "vacated" and Darren Sharper appeared in 8 games, making 16 tackles and was also on the second team. Who is this panel of voters?
2nd team QB was vacant because Tom Brady was unanimous. Voters just vote for a first team, and the second team is composed of players with the 2nd most votes. In the case of QB, no other quarterbacks received votes. That also explains why there are so many 2nd team safeties. They all tied with one vote apiece.
This list makes no sense. How is Reggie Wayne on the first team? I guess Jenkins has settled in pretty well at safety. Also, I read an article that the Eagles probably won't resign Quentin Mikall because of his age and the emergence of one Kurt Coleman.
Ironically, AJ Hawk had one of the best years of his career this year. I wish he would get the credit he deserves(unfortunately, there is only room for one long haired white linebacker to get the press).
I essentially watched AJ Hawk the entire game long; I don't have an NFL team so I don't much care who wins, so long as Buckeyes do well, and I wasn't paying attention to what the Bears were doing on their side of the line of scrimmage. I can't get over how Hawk seems to have lost a step. Matthews ran a 4.62 40 yard dash at the Combine, and Hawk put up a 4.59 with 8 more pounds of bulk. Hawk just seems more indecisive than he was at Ohio State, and he almost never impacted the line of scrimmage through pressuring the QB. Perhaps it's more of a function of his role in the Packer's defense. I hope he does well in the Super Bowl, because you have to figure the Steelers are going to scheme around Matthews and it may open up opportunities for Hawk.
I think he has played out of position his entire career. At OSU they let him rush the passer. I haven't see him do that for the Packers. All they have him do is drop into coverage. I have a feeling this is his last year in Green Bay because of his contract.
The real question is how the hell did Asomugha make first team? Dude had NINETEEN tackles. 6 Passes defended. ZERO INTERCEPTIONS. And it definitely wasn't because QBs were avoiding him. Awful.

The AP
Herbie must be on the panel.

Thanks King, it makes a bit more sense now, can't believe Vince Young didn't steal any of Brady's votes.

Hawk got a little bit of love last week in the local paper:

Who else would they have picked? McCourty? I think it should have been Tramon Williams. He has had an outstanding year.
