Jim Tressel Was Recruiting Stephen Collier in the Seventh Grade

Jim Tressel's letter to Stephen Collier

Ohio State fans are probably aware that Jim Tressel had been recruiting (redshirting) freshman Eli Apple, a Class of 2013 signee, since sixth grade. It turns out he had been recruiting Stephen Collier, an incoming quarterback, since seventh grade as well.

Collier resides now in Leesburg, Georgia and will enroll at Ohio State in January.

In old Ohio there's a team that's known throughout the land...

Miss him...

What is this? A center for ants?!? How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read if they can't even fit inside the building?

Paying it forward.....

Class acts like this, 9-1 vs TSUN, a NC in 2002, 5-3 in BCS games its hard not to love this man

We were born to love Ohio State and hate that team up north.

Not to mention his and his wife's donations of millions to the school for the library and other academic causes.  Class act.

There's few, if any, better than Saint Jimmy. Years from now we'll all realize this.

Coach, you're still the one. It's going to take a lot to replace you as my favorite Ohio State head football coach.

He also started young with Eli Apple, who was coming to camps since he was a pre-teen

LoL! Why am I not surprised?

"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.

Oh Tress...goddamn he was so good at some things and so terrible at others.

Collier is going to do special things at Ohio State, whether they are seen on the field or not. Kid has it between the ears.

We are going to be owing the vest far into the future.

Is JT's show cause penalty strictly for HEAD coaching positions? I hear there is a Defensive Coordinator spot that may be opening soon at Ohio State...

"Jim Tressel today, Jim Tressel tomorrow, Jim Tressel Forever." 11w staff ...or something close to that.

So, will this be the last "Tressel recruit"?

wpitt41's picture

Okay, is this actual recruitment? The kid sent a letter to coaches requesting a signed picture and a note about dreams of playing in college (guessing) and Tress returns a signed photo.
He had done this to a few of my younger relatives (boys & girl) and it said the same thing about "Come to Ohio State" or something similar with his autograph. It was done on a picture my family sent in with the letter.
And critics wonder why we gave this man such a long standing ovation in the '12 season!
