PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Tennessee left the home comforts south of the Mason-Dixon line and got absolutely bombed on. Marcus Mariota threw for 450 yards and 4 TDs. The Volts got decimated on all fronts.
Glad to see an SEC team get pounded. Although Tennessee has been pretty bad as of late.
This is why they don't play outside of the firmly-defined geography of home turf...
Not that it matters but Oregon was wearing highlighter shade yellow jerseys today. Picture is not from the game.
This was done to save our retina's.
"Attack the Strong, Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead!"
-Former OSU S&C Coach Lichter
You are not kidding. The only way they could ne brighter is if they played under a black light. Thankfully all of the black lights on the west coast were bought out by the stoned hippies on the hill watching Cal get curbed stomped.
Toledo - Ohio's right armpit
"A troll by any other name is still a troll".
lmao @ the black light hippie comment!
Don't give Oregon any ideas about a black light game... they might actually attempt it.
*nose flare....those guys sure were hungry!!
I wish that video hadn't gone private so folks would know what I was referencing.
I wonder what Vols fan is thinking now!
Battles are sometimes won by generals; wars are nearly always won by sergeants and privates. Football is no different, the guys down in the trenches win the games, not the coach.
I despise the $EC as much as anybody here, but come on, this is the #1 team out of the PAC playing at home against *maybe* the 10th best team out of the $EC. Sadly, this game means nothing as far as conference bragging rights are concerned. That said, at least Tenn didn't win--those insufferable rednecks don't need any more ammunition.
True. Tennessee aint that good. However, they did get boot kicked in the nuts, and whenever that happens to any...I repeat...any SEC team...I am happy.
Also I have to believe that somewhere out there there's at least one small pocket of SEC fans who actually thought Tennessee would win.
I was at the game (Duck grad student, tOSU undergrad graduate). The Vol fans there didn't seem to really think they would win. They were fairly calm during the thrashing.
Throughout the game after touchdowns, we'd taunt them with their S! E! C! chant. Then cheer: We Want Bama!! We also made fun of their Rocky Top song and had many sarcastic cheers about them losing since they were an SEC team and should therefore have won simply by showing up.
It was pretty great thrashing them. We were in our usual student spot, so it's hard to completely judge, but the Vol fans there seemed fairly chill and unsurprised about the outcome. We had a good time taunting them throughout the game.
Mariotta looked good today, after the first 2 series. Oregon has a few other good play makers in addition to Thomas. They are a really good team, I think deserving of the ranking above Ohio State (I think they should be #1 - their defense is way better than A&M's, no way they give up those points, but can easily score them).
I'd rather the Ducks have to play the Buckeyes in the Natty, so let's hope they don't face another SEC team this year.
I put the The, in The Ohio State Univeristy.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
We shouldn't , as OSU fans, be excited about Oregon kicking the shit out of a BCS conference team. I guarantee at the end of the year people aka voters will compare UT and Cal and assume they are an equivalent. We need to Oregon to lose if we plan on playing in the SEC bowl at the end of the year.
The real question here is which uniforms are more likely to cause retina damage, and in extreme cases blindness and cancer:
Today's Oregon uniforms, or:
the 2013 U of M highlighter uniforms that they unveiled against OSU?
I watched this game in it's entirety. Although I enjoy SEC teams getting their asses handed to them, I never expected it to be this lopsided. Tennessee is not Vanderbilt or Kentucky, even though they've fallen on hard tiimes. This was a butt kicking of epic proportions, IMO.
Although OSU's win over Cal was pretty impressive given they started a "backup" QB, if someone doesn't knock off Oregon or Alabama, it's going to be difficult for the Buckeyes to get to the NCG.
Just my opinion.
Lots of football left to be played.
Sorry, bro. This year, Tennessee is Vanderbilt.
My wife is from Tennessee so I am a bit biased, however they are the one SEC team I pull for (as long as they are not playing us obviously). Their fans are really similar to ours, and I am sure other fan bases feel about Hang On Sloopy the way some of you do about Rocky Top.
I feel for Tennessee because they roughly mirrored us as far as resurgence/decline. They were beginning to slide about the time we hired Tressel. During our good years with him they hired Lane Kiffin - we all know how that went. When he left they hired Derek Dooley - we know how that went.
I guess what I am trying to say is that it could have gone pretty bad for us if we hadn't have gotten Tressel then Meyer, or worse if Tressel hadn't panned out - remember the collective "who is this guy from Youngstown State?" So I feel for Tennessee as I kind of look at them as a mirror image and know how easily that could have been us, and feel so thankful that we are who we are and have been so fortunate to have Tressel and then Meyer.
Most Tennessee fans I know are as hard on their team and coaches as we are in Columbus, however I think they are more realistic. They knew it was going to be ugly yesterday, and probably will be for most of this year. I think in a couple years Butch Jones will have them competing for the SEC east again.
So...uh, here's hoping Tennessee continues to suck, right?
Tenn does actually leave the south to play games. They are just about the only SEC team that has historically and somewhat regularly done so. I remember they went to ND not long ago and we actually had a home and home scheduled with them, but them it fell through. So, props to them for trying to get a game in Ohio. And they are rebuilding, so yesterday is not that much of a surprise. With that said... Wow,Oregon is good. They deserve the ranking as if now based upon what I have seen. Our defense isn't national championship caliber (yet). While I'm not sure we should have dropped, Oregon looks like a complete team again.
Oregon brings back such sweet memories of them "being a fine team that would run roughshod over the Buckeyes" and all...
...remind me how that worked out?
I put my SEC hatred aside yesterday for this game since it will affect the BCS rankings and could hurt us down the road, but it was a wasted effort. On a side note, how 'bout them Smoky Mountains? Tenn (the state) is not all bad.......
