PHONE'S RINGING -- IT'S URBAN ON THE LINE
Damn, damn, damn. Akron had Michigan dead to rights, and AKRON LET THEM OFF THE HOOK. Devin Gardner: 16/30, 248 yards, 2 TDs and 3 INTs. Do you think MGoBlog is breathing easy?
AKRON LET THESE BUMS OFF THE HOOK!!!!!!!
Akron hasn't beaten a B1G team since 1894. Grover Cleveland was president, and there were only 44 states in the USA, the last time Akron beat a B1G team. They have only won 3 games in the last 3 years.
And they ALMOST BEAT MICHELIN!
Two blondes were driving to Disneyland. The sign said: Disneyland Left... So they started crying and headed home.
Jim Tressel almost got yet another win over TTUN! Just his presence at Akron almost willed that victory.
Skunk Bears should look into investing in a headset for Hoke.
Since Tressel's involved, will Akron have to forefit this loss in 2014-ish?
The real disappointment for Michigan here is that Gardner's September heisman chances took a huge hit.
"Lets beat the s*** out of M*******" -Urban Frank Meyer
That was an absolute joke and an embarrassment for the NCAA and their officials. Without pointing out the many attempts by the officials to give the game to Michigan, the fact that they moved the ball back 1/2 a yard and declared it was not a first down is an outrage. That was EASILY a 1st down and completely changed the outcome. I have never seen a team get the home school calls like Michigan. It is so blatant it's ridiculous. Actually it doesn't even have to be home school (see last year's bowl and the "first down").
Saw that, and agree. That was shit, by the officials.
Going to watch the Ducks/Vols game next. Can't believe an SEC team has left the South to play a game.
Not only that, they didn't put time back on the clock either. That was the epitome of winning by the hairs of their chinny chin chin.

Yeah like 8 more seconds and should have been a 1st down. Un-be-freaking-lievable.
Not to mention they let a ton of time elapse before calling it dead ball to look at it in the booth. Then they didn't give Akron the time back on the clock. Akron got hosed big time.
Dave Witvoet wanted to get to the bar a few seconds sooner.
Absolute BS, how can they get away with that?
Saw nothing from the game, just got the final score.
I don't know too much about Akron, but sure heard plenty about how M...igan is back.
Or something like that.
Hope they don't run out of doughnuts up there.
"Success - it's what you do with what you got" - Woody Hayes
Thank you refs!
The refs were so blatant with the bad calls that I had to laugh.
"YOLO" = I'm about to do something extremely ignorant/stupid & I need an excuse to do it.
Glad I didn't see any of the game today, whole thing sounded like a debacle. I'm just going to pretend like it never happened.
60% of the time it works.....every time
After watching that ending, I wish I hadn't watched it at all.
Sorry but your team just sh!t the bed. Come in from the Dark Side, you'll be happier.
My son and hubby were teasing me earlier about watching 3 games in a row and trying to get house cleaned etc during commercials. I told them "Doesn't matter what you say. You can't ruin my day today because a horrible Zips team damn near beat TTUN. Tressel channel is still broadcasting!"
I can't do that any more than you can bring yourself to root for Michigan. Having said that, today was not a good day to be a Michigan fan. I don't think I've ever been this mortified over a win.
What about against Air Force last year?
Air Force was a much more legit opponent than Akron. Air Force is mediocre and runs a weird offense (triple option). Akron, on the other hand, is quite possibly THE worst team in FBS.
Worse than UMass? I refuse to believe that.
I get it. I won't further poke the skunk bear.
What I thought was really bizarre(other than handing out free donuts before the "glazed donut game") HelloHeisman, was that when the clock struck 00:00, most UM fans were rejoicing like they just beat Alabama or Ohio State.
If Ohio State would have struggled that bad vs. SDSU or Buffalo, I would have not been cheering too loudly, were I at the game.
I wasn't there, but I'd suspect that was pure relief of avoiding a third ridiculously embarrassing loss at home in the last 7 seasons (App State from 07 and Toledo from 08 being the 2 others). I don't think it matters how the fans celebrated. Either way, Michigan played a terrible game and deserves to have its credibility as a quality team questioned for the next few weeks until/unless they can prove otherwise. Fan reaction at the game wouldn't change that. I'm just happy they somehow won.
3 INTs, and a fumble? That was Martinez-esque by Gardner.
They are who we thought they were.
That is what I didn't understand at all ... I didn't think the kid got the first down, personally, but why didn't they put time back on the damn clock??
It looked like the Big 10 zebras did not want to see Michigan lose to ANOTHER MAC team (Toledo beat them, and as a UT alum, I can never get enough of reminding the skunk bears of that embarrassing defeat).
Not only did the clowns in stripe shirts not put more time back on the clock and screw Akron out of another half-yard and a first down, on fourth down Michigan's guy held up the Akron wide receiver going into the end zone. Also Beyer slammed into the QB's head after he threw the pass. Isn't a blow to head, even a glancing one, supposed to be called a penalty? No call on either one. The Zips were homered big time.
Ha, didn't see any of the game, but I do enjoy when they at least have a good scare. I definitely enjoy The Game more when the enemy is at least a bit competitive. Not saying I root for them, but I don't get all pissed when they win other games. That said, them losing to Appalachian State was pretty great. Also, App St. is in a pretty amazing place.
...and _ichigan still sucks.
I was rooting for a repeating history, hoping for 1 more score.

So is Northwestern a safe bet to win the division?
Oh no! Our Sos!!!!?!?! Good thing I rooted for these a-holes to beat ND!!
OH MY GOD REMEMBER THAT ONE TIME WHEN THE BUCKEYES ALMOST LOST TO A NON-BCS OPPONENT?!?!?!?
1. BCS Schools
The last two could even be switched
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Is this a better example? Guess I was just trying to say that a team's never as bad as it looks on its worst day. Gotta stop commenting after 12-ish hours of drinking...
its not a better example because that osu team actually did suck
Wrong. Navy never threatened to take the lead.
navy won 10 games that year.
how many do you think akron pulls out in 2013?
Akrons won three games in the last three years and I'm almost positive those are to FCS schools. Meanwhile Navy regularly goes to bowl games but yea ok.... same thing
Notre Dame showed who they are against Purdue this week.
scUM you just arent that good
I'm a friend of thunder is it any wonder lightning strikes me
And just think, that would have only been their third most embarrassing loss in the last 6 years when you include App St and Toledo. With Notre Dame down the majority of the game vs Purdue and TTUN needed a goal line stand and calls to go their way to beat Akron at home, that "epic" final ND/scUM game was just a battle of two average teams and was only big in name only.
Was at this game, unfortunately, and let me just say that the delusion in TTUN fans is at it's highest point ever. The group of guys behind me were comical.
1. "I cant wait to see Shane Morris, he should be in midway through the 2nd. Akron doesn't know what's about to hit them"
2. "Look at Derrick Green! He will be unstoppable. He reminds me of Ohio's running back but he'll be alot better."
3. "Not the quarter I expected, but talent comes out after the 1st quarter. Should hang 60 on them by the end of the game."
4. "If we are going to have a struggle game, it should be against a team like Akron, they could win the MAC so it's not like they are terrible."
And to the comment that made me LOL.
5. "The way Devin is playing, he'll learn from this, you can't make dumb mistakes like this when we play Bama. Not saying we could beat them but we could contend with them."
By the way, my ticket was 40 yard line, 2nd row up and it was free (Thanks to my buddy who unfortunately had to grow up in AA and has season tickets). So I wasn't mad at it. Also, as much as hatred as we have for TTUN and they have for us, I was wearing my Ohio State gear, head to toe, and didn't get harassed, even one time. Maybe some dirty looks, but nothing to get mad about. I think it might of had something to do with me being a pretty big guy, 6'6 280. Anyways brothers and sisters, after being able to watch that game in person, see the sideline, the coaches, hear the fans, the atmosphere, I cannot wait for the game in November. Please let it get here fast. I truly believe we have nothing to worry about, the DB's up there could barely keep up with Akron's wideouts, they will be in trouble when they see some real speed. I survived people! O-H!
