[Click to embiggen. You won't be disappointed.]Fans who followed recruiting under Jim Tressel are used to relatively quiet National Signing Days, but it is clear in year two of the Urban Meyer Era that things have certainly changed on the biggest recruiting day of the year for the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Meyer has capped off his second consecutive top five ranked class – with some services even tabbing it as the nation's best – as he witnessed an outstanding group of 24 of the country's top high school prospects send in their national letters of intent to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center today.
The biggest story of the cycle was the big finish the staff pulled off. OSU landed super athlete Dontre Wilson on Monday night and followed that up by snagging both WR James Clark and S Vonn Bell today. They also reaffirmed the commitments of Trey Johnson, Donovan Munger, and Ezekiel Elliott after the three were rumored to be looking around.
Ohio State is still waiting to hear from punter Johnny Townsend, who committed to Ohio State last June, but was rumored to be contemplating a flip to Alabama.
The only loss of the day came from Taivon Jacobs, who flipped from the Buckeyes to Maryland at the last minute, but overall this is a phenomenal recruiting haul that may go down as one of the best in program history.
Meet your new Buckeyes after the jump.

It's a great day to be a Buckeye. Welcome boys - there is work to be done.
Man! I am going to drink to THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course I will cheer for all our kids, but the one I will cheer for the most for all the recruiting prognosticators to have missed on is Tracy Sprinkle. D-1 Defensive player of the year in Ohio, not chopped liver there.
What time is Ezekiel Elliott announcing?
uh, already did it.
Barrett gonna be a nasty cornerback
:)
QB
Yes Nick.....I know.
:-P
The article says he's a consensus 4 star cornerback, he's just having a bit of fun with the staff
Sorry Urban, Woody is still my favorite
Where does it say that? Don't see it.
Interesting that Lee asked to challenge/play with bell at camp this summer, and essentially kept pace or out-played him. This secondary is loaded.
WOW Walt!!!
Bosa is a 5 star on Scout.
Great class. Urban's the man.
O-H-I-O
Guys, for the last time, Elliott is a Buckeye, trust my sources on this one ;)
LoL
Bio on Mitchell has Munger's info
fixed thanks
Welcome to Buckeye Nation, guys.
Absurd talent across the board
Indeed!
That photo of the class is rad f*cking awesome.
You know that crazy thing, though? As outrageous as this class appears, I'm betting that the Class of 2014 will be even more rediculous (at least on an average star scale).
same info for munger and the abusement park.

darron lee looks PO'ed!! what a class
edit; that picture is epic - urbans face is gold
I like football
Mike Mitchell's line has Munger's write up. Otherwise, outstanding summary! WhAt a sick class this is!
It looks like one of the classes you'd put together on XBox. Is this real life?
I was reading the bios, and this is exactly how I felt when I was done... pure gold.
Great photo Walt!!

11W staff you did an awesome job today! Thanks for being the go to site for all things Buckeye. Walt, the poster is great as usual.
I don't think I've ever had a recruiting class exceed my expectations like this one
Can't wait for next season! Recruiting overload today! Great job by the 11W staff! Great job by the Buckeye staff! Best class ever? Don't know...but it's damn good! Juice!
That is a great photo, although Bosa might be the horse. I'm pretty sure he could pull all of those logs.
This is awesome! so many players that are going to play and make impacts next season! Is it fall yet?:D
In Urban we trust. That is all

Price, Munger, or both to the O-Line?
alex did you ever reveal your mystery flip? if you did i mustve missed it

Welcome to OSU boys. Now it`s time to meet Mickey Marotti.
After seeing Shazier pre Coach Mick, and post Coach Mick....I can't imagine Mitchell with another 15-20 lbs of ass-kicking muscle!
Putting Woody on top of the pile is awesome.
Dude, spoiler!

What an outstanding recruiting class! They're all outstanding athletes, and the one I'm most excited about is
Elliott...No, make that Apple...Wait, make that Barrett...No, maybe Bosa...I'm wrong. It's Trey Johnson...No, wait, make that Bell...Just put my vote down for all of 'em, willya?

Fantastic class, an outstanding job done by the coaching staff.
I'll just leave this gif of Ms. Brie to celebrate.

Little more chest PLOX!
Mike Mitchell is Munger? Winning.
How firm thy friendship..
Just realized all the B1G school logos on the ends of the logs! Awesome pic!
Still shaking my head over Sprinkle's low rating but I couldn't care less at this point. This is one of the best classes assembled at tOSU that I've seen.
Pretty sick class. Seems to be pretty DB heavy..probably best DB class ever possibly? I have a feeling Munger and Price end of as O/lineman. Getting Bell was huge as we've lacked an elite ball Hawk hard hitting safety in forever!
That kid James Clark is GREATLY UNDERRATED!! Watching his film you can't help but think Santonio Holmes. I think he is an upgrade from Jacobs..love that Northwestern offered him(that means he's smart).
My early guess on who ends up being best from class when their careers are over:
Barrett, Clark, Bosa, Apple, Bell.

Great pic. Great writeups. Great day to be a Buckeye!

Great Class, really happy to see the LBs and WRs that weren't locked up at the end of the season.
LOL at Bama and their 4 RB commits. Bet they all think they're "the guy"
TY Yeldon "Don't forget about me!"
Just got off work where I was devoid of internet access all day and I come home to find out that not only did we keep Zeke, not only did we get James Clark, but we got FREAKIN VONN BELL TOO?????!!!!! SWEET BABY JESUS, WHAT A FREAKIN JOYOUS DAY
MERRY X-MAS!!!!!
Seriously!
Johnny Townsend?
hmmmmm
i dont care if these guys are freshman, you can almost bank on one of them breaking out on offense, i dont think it will be zeke this year because of hyde (crazy to think we have most of a 12-0 offense coming back) but wilson, smith, clark or marhall will make waves this year. defensively i like joey bosa and vonn bell to breakout in as freshman, bosa especially, dude has a motor and i think is the most underrated prospect in this class, even though he is highly rated. Aquina is the best of the best and they play the best of the best
I agree. There is going to be real competition at WR. And the EzE will have Hyde to mentor him.
I think the 2013 OSU offense is going to really torch opposing defenses.

Great write up and coverage today. Thanks
So i've had two birthdays in less than a month. This 2nd one was more exciting.

Holy shit! Just flew back from fort lauderdale can't believe we landed this much firepower on offense.
Best class since 08'.... maybe ever. Time will tell. That class had two BCS wins, but that had alot to do with #2.
Crazy good class!
Setting aside all the kids from the SE; I mean someone tell me; when have we ever gone into Texas and taken three guys out of there who are 4 or 5 star kids; never! Not too mention a highly rated TE out of California; awesome job Urban & Co.

I am quite simply in love with James Clark's stride. Dude is fun to watch.
Yeah me too guy is really fast and he hands the ball to the official as well.
What's the word on the punter Townsend? I've been hearing rumors all day but nothing definitive.

Seems like he may be reconsidering going to OSU...or OSU is considering him as a walk on due to being at 82 scholarships...??? I'm not sure but that's what I take from it....
Here's another article saying he may go to Bama...WTF happened here??? Sorry if Gene has this on Quick Bits...

I don't think Ohio State expected to land Clark and Bell and when both committed they thought OH crap that will put us at 83, so they couldn't take the kicker's commit today. No one will use the actual words to say his scholarship got pulled, but I mean, that seems kind of like what happened no matter how they dress it up.
Thanks for the info!
We were oversigned at NSD last year. By 2.
With all the offensive talent on the team and with a playbook like we have, hopefully we won't really need a punter although I wouldn't mind seeing Townsend in S&G.
Just got back from skiing, this is awesome. Cannot believe it. Bell and Clark!!!!!

I feel for him. It would be like a recruit growing up a buckeye fan realizing another program would be a better fit for them.
downvote?
I upvoted to offset...and don't talk about downvotes...it only brings more of them.

This is the best class top to bottom that I can remember.. Special teams will dominate next year..
You know Urban is always kind of putting it to Braxton about not being a leader yet. It really sounds like Barret already has those leadership skills. It's nice to know the team will be in great hands after Braxton moves on.
Kudos for the use of the word "embiggen" on Walt's masterpiece. :)

Welcome to Columbus. It's a great day to be a Buckeye
Who thinks MGO blog will still have tOSU ranked below the sun and blue in their rankings?
It's like they've designed their ranking system to benefit them (i.e. multiplying by the total number of commits).
Don't worry, I'm sure they'll change it next year when the current one is no longer to their benefit.
Honestly, Mgo is terrible and filled with trolls....and I don't mean the kind of trolls that just say things to start up problems...they literally have morons over there that believe Urban will be gone in 3 years and that he lies to recruits and will not have control of the locker room. If you literally believe that you are the lowest common denominator of scUM fan.
Without a doubt. Thinking the same thing. Hoke made a remark yesterday that they, ttun, don't look at recruiting stars for kids or rankings. At that point he knew he lost the recruiting battle to Urban. That was his way, as a sore ass loser, to walk off the field without shaking his hand.
The defense just went from Silver Plated Bullets to Solid Sterling Silver Hollow Point Bullets!

Okay, that poster is insanely good.
If you look at it closely you can hardly tell it isn't "original". Walt you did one helluva job! Bravo!
Great poster! Can't wait to see these guys "bring the wood" to the rest of the B1G (and more!).
I'm going to frame this photo and hang it up on my wall ... along with all of the other game day posters that were created ... amazing stuff!

Long is the reach of this recruiting titan.
And the Michigan/Illinois hiatus appears to be over going forward
Could not have expected a better class - Blue Chips, all of em!
I've looked/shared Walt's incredible image at least 20 times today and only just now did I notice the opponent logos on the ends of the logs. Outstanding.
it's the subtle things in life
Watching all these players highlights again makes one fully appreciate how great a class this is. Theres a ton of WOW factor with this group.
