The Buckeyes led by as many as 21 but allowed Michigan to tie it up at 46-46 with 5:59 left before closing with a defensive fury in a 56-53 win over previously undefeated Michigan today in the Schott.
Ohio State stopped Michigan on nine of their final 12 possessions after they had tied it up and the Buckeyes hit 4/4 free throws in the final 30 seconds to pull off the victory.
Deshaun Thomas led the charge with 20 points while Sam Thompson and Aaron Craft chipped in nine. Lenzelle Smith had 10 boards.
Craft was a beast defensively, holding Trey Burke to 4/14 shooting with four turnovers against four assists.
Ohio State held Michigan to 38% from the field.
The win improves Ohio State to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in conference.

I'll start, and end, by congratulating the winners for playing a better game, playing harder, playing smart, and in finishing the job.
But this will be frustrating and angering for our side, because we looked so unprepared and just awful for so long at the start. Any Michigan fans who write this off as, "the Big Ten is just tough, and it is so hard to win on the road..." are dreaming. Ohio State is no worse than "a very good team," and Michigan is no better than "a very good team."
Tom Izzo has won a season's worth of huge national-importance statement-type games. John Beilein has won a week's worth.
All credit today to the Buckeyes on doing the job and passing the test.
Buckeyes won by contesting the 3 point shot and by actually making shots on the other end, it doesn't get any simpler than that. If Michigan wants to make a run at this thing, they need to find offense inside the arc consistently.

Must have watched a different game. I love the win but this team still has major offensive problems. If we can stay in transition and score like that we can run any team in the country out of the gym but slow it down like scum did in the 2nd half and we can lose to almost any team in the conference.
Without question. The inability to consistently hit shots throughout the game will cost the Bucks on neutral/road games all year against top competition.

Michigan is actually a good matchup for us. We have a guy who can (essentially) lockdown their primary weapon, and they don't have any big guys on the inside who can dominate us or control the boards. We finally got the boards we needed late in the game today and finished around the bucket. Those things were missing late in the Duke and Kansas games.

Big props to Michigan for keeping their heads in the game and getting their turnovers under control. Coming back from a start like that takes some gutsy play.
You're talented, but you need more skill inside the paint to be able to make a deep run. When Ravenel and Williams are winning the battle inside, you know you're in trouble.
Both of these teams need to toughen up their schedule in the preseason. Luckily for both we've got a long conference season before the playoffs.

What a great win! It never gets old beating scUM. I had to coat my stomach with a lot of Pepto Bismol in the 2nd half, but well worth it. Go Bucks! And hopefully go gray box!

But we love Bacari Alexander. He's become a monster recruiter and the players love him. He's been one of the biggest factors in Michigan's current level of success. I only wish that Bacari Alexander could remain "nondescript." Sooner or later, he is headed for a very big job. I hope it is later.

Not happy about letting them come back, but VERY happy they gutted it out; offense looks very sloppy at times. Very physical game on both sides.

Its always good to beat michigan. Somehow blowing a big lead and then holding on to win is less satisfying than a big comeback win. But I'll take it any day.

Lenzelle also had a great rebound towards the end of the game. We may not have but one true scorer but we've got quality role players, for sure.

Wow, this looked like a completely different team than when we played Illionois. If we continue to improve at our current rate we should be right in the thick of things come March.

A great win for our team!! They showed some toughness at the end that had been missing all season. And, as I suspected, all the guys who come on and bash Matta after losses to Duke, Kansas and Illinois, they are predictably silent. BADDOGMAINE...yes, I'm talking about you!!
The offense is transition aka Sam, Tank, and just enough shots from the other guys. We were up 29-8 after an Amir free throw in the first half (6 7 minute mark?) and scored 27 the rest of the way. Stauskas held to 0. Our offense against a zone is nonexistent though. Finally got a big win over a quality opponent.
Half of our problem is that we don't move enough on offense, and half of the problem is that we're playing 4 on 5. Ravenel and Williams are being left wide open on the pick and roll but we're never going to pass it to them because we don't trust them to handle the ball.
Will there be any way to re-watch this game? What channel was it even on?
